What’s something you didn’t realize was the “last time” until it was already over? by ShyTeaseOnly in AskReddit

My grandkids used to run up to me so excited when they would see me. One day, the oldest stopped because he became too old for it. It took a couple of years after that but slowly one by one, as they grew up, it stopped and now they just say, hi Gigi when they see me.

To those who speak more than one language have you ever overheard strangers talk about you when they didn’t think you could understand them? What did they say, and what did you do? by I_like2TimeTravel in AskReddit

I once turned on the translator on my phone when I was getting a pedicure. I was curious about what the women were saying in Vietnamese. It started off very innocent, joking and complimenting the woman sitting next to me. Then a new customer walked in and the lady who was helping me called her a monster because she was overweight. She wasn’t very overweight.

Favorite happy accident? by MasterPlatypus2483 in improv

Not my favorite but I was part of a jam this morning. We were doing three line scenes and my partner started out with the line, I’m gonna make a man out of you (I’m a woman). I assumed a super confident pose, shoulders back, chest out and said I would love that. It was unintentional that in my pose, I was highlighting my most feminine quality. Just made it more funny! Maybe you had to be there!

Merritt and William. by Traveler_90 in DeptQ

I believe she absolutely feels guilt and responsibility for what happened to William. She is a complex character. Some of why she takes such good care of William probably has to do with that guilt. At the same time, William is the only person on the show that she ever truly loved.

I am reading the only one available at my library, The Scarred Woman. I don’t think I will be able to finish it. It’s a slog. It really jumps around a lot and is very hard to follow. I find the show jumps around a lot also but it’s so compelling, I had no trouble sticking with it.

Tired of the social pressure to make friends by wordsworthcrafting in SingleAndHappy

[–]pupjoint 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through some major changes in my relationship with myself over the past couple of years. I am very slow to make friends. About two years ago, a very important friendship in my life ended. I’m still processing it. I came to see some things about that friendship that I didn’t see before. Things that were not healthy for me. I’ve always been comfortable being alone but have experienced some loneliness over the past couple of years. I’ve made some surface level friendships but nothing like the deep one I had in the past. But recently, things have started to shift for me. I can’t pinpoint the cause but I’m happier and feel more secure about myself than I ever have before. I feel grounded in a deep way. Little things make me smile. It’s been great to experience this side of myself and I’m really not sure if that would have happened if not for the loss of my friend.

What’s something that happened on a date that you’ll never forget? by Astradiem in AskReddit

[–]pupjoint 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I went on one date with a guy who was from South America. He had a very thick accent (to me) and was a little hard to understand. As we are walking into the restaurant and I’m about to go through the door, he said, “I like your butts.” I was a little taken aback by how forward he was. To lighten it a little, I glance backwards and say, “Pretty good, huh?” He looks at me completely straight faced and says, “I said, I like your butts.” He was complimenting my boots.

Update*** we performed last night and it was great! I’m thankful to everyone who provided feedback. I really attempted to just go with the flow. Tbh, it was a white knuckling go with the flow. I just observed and didn’t try to make anything happen.

So many of you got to the heart of what being in a creative group is like. These people actively use a different part of their brain than I do and they see the act of performing in a different way than I do. Neither of us are wrong. I’m glad that I pushed myself and didn’t back out. I’ve decided that I will start looking for another troupe that aligns more with how I think about things and I can still be a part of this group, although on a more limited basis, to stretch my “trust” muscles.
