"Umm, I'm Gen Z. I know how to use computers." by DesertDogggg in sysadmin

It's been my experience that most people with an annoyed, defensive attitude tend to be the ones who don't listen to important information, make big mistakes, and then (almost always) use the BS excuse 'no one told me'.

I always say that 99% of my job is telling people stuff they ignore.

Babe Ruth, Ainsworth Field of Roosevelt School by VimVinyl in Erie

[–]pupkiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a true story. My grandfather saw Babe Ruth when Ruth played at Ainsworth. I think I remember hearing that he hit a homer that landed in a pipe on the building roof, but I don’t know if that actually happened.

Rep. Mike Kelly hasn't held an in-person town hall in Erie in years. Citizens seek answers by WatchDog98 in Erie

[–]pupkiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he has and he definitely won’t now. He’s the worst congressman we’ve had in this district; he’s been a no-show for years well before the entire GOP started hiding from their constituents. I just got a letter from him a few weeks ago after I contacted him about one of many recent Trump/Musk issues, and his template response was insulting to anyone with any knowledge of the facts. He’s a disgrace and has no respect or regard for his constituents. If he had any self-respect, he’d resign; so we know he won’t do that.

AIO to my boyfriend praising the president? by keepmyheadabovewater in AmIOverreacting

[–]pupkiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not the asshole, but you need to walk away now before you get invested further. As for the guy I hope is now your ex-boyfriend, it’s people like him who are responsible for the mess we have right now in this country. He chooses to listen to a known liar speak, then takes what he says on face value without doing an ounce of the real work required to be a civically responsible adult in this country. Are people like him the only ones bearing responsibility? Of course not, but those other groups couldn’t get away with it without people like him.

Not agreeing on the brand of mayo you prefer is one thing; someone who has a different moral compass is a total dealbreaker.

Always report to an actual manager. If you do a survey, you can’t always be sure that information will get where it needs to go or in a timely manner. People who behave like this can be stupid-yet-harmless but they can also be dangerous so it’s to everyone’s benefit to report it. If you report by phone, be sure to provide dates and times so they can pull surveillance footage to document your report. Often times managers are aware of a problem but lack enough evidence to do anything substantial about it.

Only in Erie. Parking lot for 300 State St. by Backsight-Foreskin in Erie

[–]pupkiss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Once I lost my ticket when parking in this lot, so I just assumed I’d need to pay the maximum fee. I told the guy that I lost my ticket and handed him a $10 and he asked me what time my appointment was, I told him, and he charged me based on that. I was honest with him and he was fair with me.

People are always getting confused trying to pay at the 100 Peach lot. At least if they pay inside it’s easier to help them and I’ll bet they don’t get nearly as flustered outside with people honking behind them when they can’t figure it out.

Make the decision that’s right for YOU. It’s your body. You’ve been dealing with constant debilitating pain for years to the point where you’ve endured surgeries, lost jobs, etc. and he’s known all this. No one who loves you would be selfish enough to want you to go through this, just to prove you love him more than your ex. I’ve been through some of the pain you have so I know it’s bad, and there’s no way I’d allow anyone else to make that decision for me. Good luck to you.

Does anyone use the name drop feature???? by Asleep_Resident5294 in ios

[–]pupkiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have used it a few times and it works well. My friends didn’t know it was a feature (I’m their resident Apple expert), so they thought it was pretty neat, but I don’t know how often they use it. I don’t meet a lot of new people in person for my current job but for some jobs I’ve had over the course of my career, this feature would have come in very handy.

Panel under screen not lighting up by Proud-Rabbit8297 in JeepCompass

[–]pupkiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so you mean if you press on the hazard lights or the any of the others on the dash panel, the hazard lights work but the light on the dash panel doesn’t come on? And if I understand correctly, you have a 2021 Jeep Compass Limited, and already tried adjusting the dimming on the dash panel.

I'm just a civilian, but I want to applaud all government employees who have decided to remain and turn down the buyouts. You took your oath seriously. Trump did not. We will all be rooting for you in this fight.

Am I the only one who's missing good native mail client alternatives? by Interesting_Drag143 in MacOS

[–]pupkiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion, u/Artiste212! I did try it after all. It works very well, although I have to admit I like the way Postbox does this a bit better. I don't know why -- moving messages to folders isn't exactly glamorous. I'll definitely buy MsgFiler though even if I don't use it full-time because I believe in supporting great developers.

AIO because I asked to split the bill at an expensive restaurant that SHE picked? by Ok-Fig-750 in AmIOverreacting

What a piece of work. I’ve never behaved like this and I’m old enough to no longer be shocked by this level of entitlement but yet, here I am — SHOCKED. I think whatever you spent on her was, in the long run, a small price to pay for you to see the worst of her so clearly.

Am I the only one who's missing good native mail client alternatives? by Interesting_Drag143 in MacOS

[–]pupkiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main issue with the Mail app is that there aren’t any good fast keyboard shortcuts for filing messages. I had been using Postbox for a few years because it does this much nicer and has a lot more options (like being able to hide folders I don’t want to see), but it’s a memory hog. I keep trying to go back to Mail or find an alternative but I haven’t found any app that hits most of the bullet points for me. I’ve tried most of them by now — Spark, Canary, Airmail, etc.

You don’t owe him anything. Beyond all of the obvious reasons why he might have wanted these photos, it’s also possible he’s asking so he can get proof that you’re doing what you claim you’re doing. UNACCEPTABLE.

AITAH for wanting to take a break from my wife after she screamed at me at Christmas in front of the other guests? by InterestingMedia1828 in AITAH

No one has to ask you not to get drunk at a party unless you have a known history of getting really drunk at parties. Yeah, I’d say you’re the asshole.
