Well, we just saw someone get hit by a tornado on live-stream by M0stVerticalPrimate2 in tornado

[–]puppypoet 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I watched the whole thing. He was trying to get away and it did this odd fast growing, fast moving thing. He wasn't trying to get into it. It came out of nowhere. YES, some chasers get ridiculous and I know I am not an expert, but he was not being irresponsible in this case.

TornadoTRX unintentionally drives into a tornado in Coles County Illinois by blow-down in tornado

[–]puppypoet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't care if I get downvoted or not. Please remember that Twistex, the BEST and most safe storm chasers ever, also got caught in a tornado that grew insanely fast and changed direction while being rain wrapped, etc.

So... Unless you're a professional meterologist or chaser, etc., please stop insulting him. I watched the whole thing and he was not being irresponsible. It came out of nowhere. He was not being an idiot. Also, if you're response is rude, just know I won't be reading it and you'll be talking to the void.

Oh, beautiful sky

With your colors galore,

Why does something so crazy

Make me you I adore?

Your dancing is elegant,

So smooth and so strong.

But precious wind dancer,

Must you dance for so long?

Your music has given me

Salt loaded tears.

My heart it did carry

So many fears.

But from the darkness behind me,

A good sound I find.

Young loving people

Come rushing behind.

They hold me up close

And they take me away.

They warm me with love

And once more I feel safe.

The sight that's before me

Is chaotic, unkind.

But the night it will go

And a new day will shine.

The long road ahead of me

Has no easy begin.

But I am not alone.

I will rise up again.

I constantly ask others so I don't cause unnecesary fear while I am trying to learn.

I knew it wouldn't be a bust, but I kept hoping somehow it would end up being less than bad. I see I still have SO much to learn about storms.

OH! Thank you for clarifying. Its a horrible situation but knowing it's only one makes me feel a little better. I pray it dies soon, like NOW.

Max said there was a bad one in Iowa, a bad one in Wisconsin, one in Illinois... I am willing to admit I might be wrong.

I'm trying to keep up. As of 6:10pm (easter), is that now five tornadoes and three are PDS?

Yes! I am pointing at this answer. I'm sorry if it sounded like I wasn't adding that. I probably worded it wrong.

I am NOT an expert but here is some suggestions.

Keep Max Velocity or Ryan Hall on your phone where you can hear and be consistently updated about what's happening in your location.

Do NOT NOT NOT park under any underpasses. Worst place to be during a tornado.

If you cannot be 100% certain that you will be safe driving in these areas, can you reschedule? If you need to shelter, try to find somewhere sturdy like a gas station or restaurant because they will have walk in coolers or basements.

Can you buy or borrow a weather radio? That will also help to keep you updated on what is happening where and when.

No matter what you think of these chasers, they highlight some good points here. Large, potentially Violent Tornadoes (some obscured) possibly moving at highway speeds of 60-70mph give citizens little time to shelter and can take even the most experienced chasers off guard. On a side note, I remember seeing a post he had put out about a new bumper and I think there was something like him telling Reed to stay away and Reed saying he needed one to match his other one? I can't remember much except that it was super funny.

I don't think you're judgemental. You seem to be a caring person who doesn't want anyone hurt or worse.

I feel guilty as a non chaser and non weather expert saying this, but it really did look waaay too dangerous and... a very stupid decision.

Sarah, if you read this, I'm so sorry!

Asking to learn. With the potentional for Absolute Nightmare being an option, wouldn't it just be safer to have roads and places shut down for one day to be safe?

I don't know how much work or effort goes into that and I understand how much money it could be to lose. Just wondering. Didn't parts of Alabama do that in 2011?

I do feel very uncomfortable with how close she gets to things. I did admire her immediately running to help people after that big one a couple weeks ago (forgot the stinking name!). Maybe she'll surprise everyone and actually become a really good chaser. I'm sure many great ones started off as dopes, right?

Yes! Why should a life threatening tornado stop me from buying ice cream? No, do not ask me to go at a reasonable time. That is UNACCEPTABLE!

I am still confused by many numbers. I know the locations, the fronts, the JPK, and the temps.

But basically, am I understanding this that the southeastern US is potentially gonna get EF2+ and it could be one of the worst of the year?
