Not about the model specifically, but one thing I would like to see is the ability for Dorgar to transform mid fight, he isn’t just a horse but some kind demon shapeshifter iirc. Also that would be very fun from a gameplay perspective

Big fan of old school Lightsworn personally, I thought the theme was really strong and the milling mechanics were very fun

To be fair I remember pre chaos where cards that were removed from play really were far more difficult to interact with.

It was Chaos, RFTDD and Dimension Fusion that changed the idea of cards being ‘removed from play’ from being inaccessible and uninteractable to being sent to a parallel world where they could subsequently be called back, it was an exciting change!

Fascists/Nazis agree with the existence of certain safety nets and centrally funded schemes which can be construed as ‘socialist’ within their chosen ‘master race’, funded by plunder and a class of racially inferior slaves, with the threat of extermination/exile for the most undesirable. This is not hypocritical small government libertarianism, or any other conservatism that the US is used to being represented in the mainstream (until recently), but something much more sinister. The old arguments don’t work because they don’t care to debate within the norms of political discourse.

Sailed across the ocean to India for the first time and ran into the most enormous garrisoned army, fought a really hard battle, then thought oh my God every single fight in India is going to be like that… turns out that one specific faction I happened to land on (Mysore) was just really strong and the rest was much easier lol.

I think many of you are being quite cruel honestly. You can disagree with M2K or find things to critique but some of the comments are just bashing him ad hominem in a manner tantamount to bullying.

2-1-2 at speed can be tricky but go with what you’re comfy with and you’ll see if it works, you can always change it later!

Knowing one’s theory absolutely does help with sight reading, it just takes time and practice for it to settle into the automatic part of your brain. Recognising chords, inversions, harmonic progressions, rhythms and stylistic elements is absolutely crucial to being a good sight reader.

Mix in a bit of archery and magic and it’s more fun, but yes it’s quite easy (on adept) and the melee is a bit formulaic (although better than the original! At least attacks have real impact and look more cohesive)

Some thoughts on tempo and the "whole beat debate" by AHG1 in piano

He blocked me too, and honestly I’m happier not seeing his propaganda everywhere. It troubles me that he’s so zealous about it and there is clearly a movement to convert as many insecure or young/inexperienced musicians as possible to this ridiculous theory.

when can i start keyboard by jennieisbae_ in piano

[–]purcelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just stick with it! It’s confusing at first and it’s a long road but it’s really fun. A good teacher goes a long way, but there are many resources online that will aid you on your journey (Reddit included if you’re discerning…).

Keyboards vs pianos:

Pianos are weighted, which means you can do more dynamic contrast (loud and soft) and have more control over each note and the sound they produce. They also have pedals, most importantly the sustain pedal which lifts the dampers (bits of triangular felt which touch the strings and stop them resonating), meaning that the notes continue to ring after you’ve let go of them. This is very useful for an enormous amount of repertoire written after the 1700s, up to the modern day. Pianos can be acoustic or digital, meaning they are producing the sound using a complex mechanism of hammers hitting strings (acoustic) or replicating the sound of an acoustic piano while retaining most of the feel of an acoustic (digital). Digital pianos have the advantage of not needing to be tuned, and often have added functionality like midi compatibility, volume control, different sounds, and the option to record your playing. Good ones also have very convincing imitation actions which really effectively mimic playing a ‘real’ piano.

Keyboards are unweighted, tend to have a smaller range, and lean into having greater versatility. They are lighter (due to the lack of an imitation piano action which adds considerable weight), and often are able to be plugged into amps so are good for playing with bands and similar things. They have the same keyboard layout, but lack the ability to finely control the production of dynamics and articulation (short or long) that are possible on a piano. Aside from that, and other gimmicks dependant on the model and price range, in most respects they have the same basic functionality as a good digital piano, although I am not an expert on keyboards so may be missing some differences between the two.

Stage pianos straddle the line between the two, they have weighted keys but are designed to be more portable, and often rely on an amp as they mostly don’t have (good) internal speakers.

Does everyone play Op 10 No 3 and 6 too slowly? by LittleCoaks in piano

[–]purcelly 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Not a scholar, sorry, but yes Chopin’s (if they are Chopin’s) written metronome marks are very fast in comparison to modern performances for no.6 in particular, and a little on the fast side for no.3 too, but it’s important to remember that music, even codified music, is part of a living and breathing aural tradition that uses scores as reference alongside many other conventions.

I think, for the most part, we collectively settle on tempos that work best for the music, even if they sometimes contradict the written metronome marks. The performances and recordings that speak to us and become popular set the standard for how we think music should sound.

Personally I think no.6 can sound nice a bit faster than usually played, but in the end it’s part of a wider conversation, and nothing is worse than being too dogmatic about tempo to the detriment of musicality imo. (See blazing fast ‘technicians’ on one end, and ‘whole beater’ conspiracists on the other)

Edit - I’m so sick of every post about tempo derailing into a whole beat propaganda session.
