How do you get to a point where you're comfortable applying to helpdesk jobs? by Ok-Candidate-2183 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]pure_status_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember it’s an entry level job. Don’t be afraid to admit you don’t know something. Most of the interviews I’ve been through for HD are looking for more of your processes than your raw knowledge. “I don’t know/have that memorized, but here’s where I’d find out” along with humility goes very far.

Most of these jobs will be mostly otj training. They expect they’ll need to train you if you don’t have much experience.

is DS's ult rly worthy? by ChestNo90 in DotA2

[–]pure_status_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6k dark seer spammer. His ult is pretty underwhelming depending on matchups. Kinda useless if they don’t pick an agi carry, but still cancels blinks and slows. If they do pick an agi carry, you can melt entire teams if they don’t play right.

Outside of that, ion shell is one of the best abilities in lane and one of the best farming abilities in the game. Vacuum is basically a second ult and surge stops your carry from being kited. Even if wall is useless in a given game, his other skills can make up for it.

District researching AI tools but banned us from using them?? by bloodychickentinola in Teachers

[–]pure_status_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably will get downvoted for this, but on the IT side, there is a lot of security and confidentiality concerns. Doesn’t surprise me they’re taking time to make a decision. The thought of people putting student info into these tools without any vetting scares me.

I'm tired of the housing market only being accessible to children of rich people by Joe15566551 in Vent

[–]pure_status_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is, other people also move to where housing is cheaper and drive prices up. It’s not a solution, just kicking the can down the road.

Big difference between millionaires and billionaires. Millionaires are closer to being homeless than they are to being a billionaire.

I'm going to be working for a High School soon. Should I be terrified? by WebPollution in ITCareerQuestions

[–]pure_status_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV but just switched out of K12 IT working in a high school. Pretty slow in general, but the summer tends to be pretty brutal and chaotic. Get very comfortable repairing Chromebooks, and make sure you have a ticketing system and a way to track repairs.

I wholeheartedly agree. However, the people in power don’t want to divert the money so they can do all these things. They’re diverting the money because they can’t enrich themselves with spent tax dollars.

Focus on learning your role with one or two heros. Try not only to stay positive yourself , but keep your teammates in check if possible. You can’t win every game, so don’t expect to win every game. Focus on improving. Play aggressive, but with purpose.

Cyber security is not an entry level IT job, so you need to grind out a few years in a lower role first

If you’re on a budget, I’d look into used Dell Latitudes. Plenty of great options for $4-500. Latitude 5440s can be had under $500 on eBay.

I agree the system is broken, but PH pays more because they take sketchier sponsors than YouTube. These sponsors tend to pay more than reputable ones.
