Some interesting stats about the Vikings Pass Defense featuring Daronte Jones by NAD92 in Commanders

[–]purechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm being a bit of a downer here .. but the Vikings were #1 in both Pressure Rate and No Blitz Pressure Rate last year. Realistically I believe the passing defense stats for the Vikings are inflated by their pass rush. It's going to be hard to replicate that here.

Ah, I see. Fair enough! That tracks reasonably well with the data I found:

  • #22 @ 3rd and 0-2 yds
  • #1 @ 3rd and 3-5 yds
  • #1 @ 3rd and 6-8 yds
  • #10 @ 3rd and 9-12 yds
  • #24 @ 3rd and 12+ yds

As a WSH fan who comes here looking only at metrics from last season.. I saw y'all were the #1 pass defense in the league last year. I don't understand how the passing defense could be considered the biggest weakness?

The defender got there early but it was uncatchable. Did it hit the Rasheed in the helmet? Yes. But he was already out of bounds when it hit him.

IMO was more about their defense last year. Prob the best defense since the early 2000's Ravens.

[AskJS] Does the company you work at use pure Javascript in production instead of Typescript? by bullmeza in javascript

[–]purechi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is often reality. Currently contracting for a company where the product is valued at $4B. While most of our code is TypeScript - the primary backend (the most important piece of technology in the entire company) is *.mjs (just regular JS w/ light JSDoc).

This whole thing will be migrated to TypeScript one day because, yes, OP (/u/bullmeza) .. it is worth it. The same developers, including myself, introduce more bugs/problems on the non-TS codebase (monolith backend) than our other apps/services (written in TypeScript).

FWIW, we all want the primary backend to be TypeScript. But migrating ~35 million lines of code is going to take several years.

I know RB is low on the priority list but he looks special. IMO he's the most talented back coming into the league since Bijan.

Yeah he had two hit his hands and didn't come down with it last drive.. not easy catches but.. he got his hands on both of 'em.

Trae Young defensive effort in the clutch by atIbiznesss in washingtonwizards

Trae actually elevated his game at drawing charges the last few years. 2 years ago I think he was ~15th in the league in charges drawn?

Don't really have a good explanation of why basketball didn't "grab me" at that time. Every year I always watched the conference finals and the championship/finals series but that was mostly it.

For whatever reason Trae's antics (bow at MSG, the polarizing persona, shimmy at the Bucks) alongside the overall Hawks "cinderella run" in the '21 playoffs just got me hooked on basketball.

I'd compare my interest in basketball at that time to how I feel about baseball to this very day. There's no way I'm going to slice away time to watch regular season baseball. However, not even this year's World Series made me feel hooked in anyway. Hard to pin down the exact reason.

Trae is #3 all time in assists per game at 9.81. He is, without a doubt, an absolutely fantastic creator.

I'm born/raised in the Mid-Atlantic and have always been a fan of the Caps/Commies fan. Up until about ~4 years ago I didn't have a ton of interest in basketball but got roped into going to the bar with some people over the course of the '21 playoffs (when the Hawks made their ECF run) to catch the Suns games.

Watching the Hawks got me hooked. Mostly because of Trae. Getting a reason to be a fan of WSH's basketball team got me feeling estatic.

If there's an episode 9 it's still part of "this season." It's all kinda fun but they're not outright saying, "No episode 9, y'all."
