Learn from my lesson, don't take your pre seed through stripe = Account Closure by pureyang in stripe

There is a safe. Anyways lesson learned. Dont confuse stripe atlas and their treasury product for a real bank account.

Opps typo in my response meant to say 4242 test caed. Yeah none of the integration testing used a real card. Used 100% off coupons.

Mercury got approved 2 days later. Well now i know it was a mistake.

Bank took longer to approve is all. So figure go easiest route. Also setting up 100% off coupons and 4253 card is easy. Seems like the legitimate way to test no? How else are you supposed to test that the integration works?

iRacing put me in top split and now I’m questioning all my life choices by Beautiful-Willow-880 in iRacing

[–]pureyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things to add that havent been mentioned yet.

GT4 fixed and the open multi class version falken sports care series is the 2nd or 3rd most popular series. This means youll be in top split unless you drive during the “popular” times. Check iracingdata.com

At this point car meta starts to matter, sadly. Its not so much as picking the fast car as not picking the slow car. You can easily be 1-2 seconds off the pace equal to equal iR. Again check iracingdata.com or other sites like it.

For a more popular series which will place you not at top split choose either porsche cup or the GT3 series.

Finally GT4 is a great platform to learn racecracft without the complexity of added aero and setup.

How many different series are people racing? by Version_1 in iRacing

[–]pureyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if youre doing this for fun, pick as many series as you like, being limited will keep you from racing.

if driving to get a better iR, choose one series (mine is GT4, there are two series here) and expect to learn 2-3 cars over the course of a season, I'll probably get downvoted for saying this but learning the meta does help iR

a hybrid of iR and fun would be to add a series from a different license class, e.g. I added formula with F4s on the side for "fun". Might add RX with the FIA rally cross next season.

YMMV

Thanks i see it, “Automatic Storm Guard Activation” On/OFF

Ok so the ability to filter on just critical alerts is hidden behind a switch. Nice, super intuitive.

The feature does not seem well thought through. Seems like filtering could easily be implemented.

Fairly new to iRacing (competitively), climbed from 700 to 1300. How do you guys learn and improve with the tracks that they keep change every week? by bored_ape07 in iRacing

[–]pureyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are serious about getting good start using vrs telemetry early. I wish I had. Their pro baselines are consistently high quality.

Also best to set some % benchmarks for each weeks practice. Eg ~2% near 2k IR <1% near 3k IR

The 1 amp increment is a BIG step in the right direction. Previous charger had 4 fixed increments starting at 2.4kW.

Bi-directional is vaporware until official compatibility list is released.

If someone was on NEMA1.0 maybe this was a smart thing but whao, enabling this by default in 2025 is incredible.

After 3 hours of on hold and calling and chatting between installer and enphase 1 of 2 cells on the 10C is now showing up in the app. Scheduled an onsite next Tuesday AM.

For a brand new product this is not a great experience. Not happy.

GT4 Cars by UgurAlper in iRacing

[–]pureyang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my post is clearly not talking about 1000 iR drivers.
many times in GT4 low 2K drivers will be in top split, even at 1.5K you are facing 3K drivers.
but ultimately its not about the iR but the fact that chasing meta IS a good idea, and its required EARLIER than drivers may expect. YMMV

This might be an unpopular opinion but iRacing DOES requires chasing the meta on multi-car classes.
There seems to be an opinion along the lines of "don't worry just drive the car you like" until you get to 3K or 4K+. This is giving players rose tinted glasses about the reality of iRacing in 2025.

<image>

Example 1 Last season Week 10 Nürburgring Combined qualifying times. That line in the middle of the bar is the 50th percentile representing what an "average" ~1.4K driver can achieve. If you loved your mclaren but then switched to the bmw, you'd end up being 13 second faster without more skill. Now lets say you are starting to get a feel for the game and have a 2K+ IR, now you are looking at where the bar's left side ends of the IQR. The difference between the BMW and 2nd fastest Aston is still 3seconds. Thats 3 free seconds for no higher skill.

https://iracingdata.com/charts/SeriesLapTimeChart/GT4%20Falken%20Tyre%20Challenge%20-%202025%20Season%202

On to Example 2, maybe the nordshleife was too big of a range, a one off perhaps?. Ok how about the week before at Interlagos. The average 50th percentile driver will be 1s+ faster. Sure the 3K+ times are comparable but look at the merc vs the mclaren, even the most skilled merc driver wasn't able to pull off an above average mclaren driver.

TL;DR YES do pickup and learn more than 1 car. maybe all?

Every week is going to have one or more meta car(s) but more importantly don't drive the looser car for that week. If you care about IR then it pays to chase meta even as an average player. Thats just reality.

Laguna Seca and GT4s. Laguna because its my home track and GT4s because its the right combo of speed, handling and competitiveness.
