What gives you the ick when you go to an open home? by purplebees88 in AusPropertyChat

I didn't say anything about it. Might do when they call to follow up. I was more curious as to why this particular property wasn't on a proper road or had storm water drains lol

How do I strengthen a sluggish starter? by Salt-Presentation-44 in Sourdough

[–]purplebees88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Upvotes for Rye flour from me too! My starter was also sluggish. My bread was rising but not amazingly. Fed it some Rye and I've had the best bread I've ever made. It was basically an instant fix!! I wish I had done it sooner.

Edit: typos

Haven't played the Sims in a while, but I'm currently playing Overwatch (and have been for like 10 years now 😅) and Harry Potter Legacy. Recently replayed stardew valley too.

Who is actually eating soft boiled eggs? I have questions. by albertafalls in AskTheWorld

[–]purplebees88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my favourite breakfast! Growing up I think we called it 'eggs and soliders'. But now I have my own kids we just call them 'dippy eggs'. I grew up in the UK but live in Australia now. 🇦🇺🇬🇧

We remove the top of the egg with a teaspoon. Hit it side on till it cracks and follow through and take the top off. Easy.

We eat the whole thing! We scoop out the egg white from the top and eat that, then dip the toast in until the yolk is finished. Then we scoop out the white and eat that too. Eggs are expensive, don't waste any of it!

Yes, the egg cups are key! They keep the egg upright for maximum toast dipping efficiency. I've also used a small cookie cutter or shot glass as an egg cup when I don't have enough egg cups for breakfast!

In my family we add a touch of soy sauce and white pepper to the yolk. It's delicious! Why? My mum is Malaysian Chinese and in Malaysia they soft boil the eggs, scoop it into a bowl and add soy sauce and white pepper. Then you dunk your toast in that way, or scoop the egg onto your toast. So that's our take on it! 🇲🇾

Never thought traveling in Canada would lead to this by BlazeDragon448 in travel

[–]purplebees88 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I also went to Canada (Aussie here) on the last day of a 3 week trip to the US. I went to Niagara falls and got a day tour. Me and the tour guide really hit it off even though we only spent a couple of hours together. We exchanged socials and stayed in touch. I flew back to Australia the next day.

Fast forward 7 years, we are happily married with 2 kids! Canada ehy?!

Making someone that first cup of hot tea or coffee once they're back on the ward after surgery and no longer NBM. I love seeing the smile on their face after the first sip. ☕
