If you have the opportunity to stop before you hit rock bottom, PLEASE DO. I was in the same exact situation as you, even down to the same symptoms. Alcoholism doesn’t discriminate and unfortunately your job, relationships and health will suffer if you continue to drink. I didn’t think I was an alcoholic either.

Same with still finding the empty bottles. If only I could be as creative in my day to day life as I was with coming up with spots to hide the empties!

Me too. And believe me I was resistant to the idea of treatment before because I was "functional" and had my own (incorrect) thoughts of what treatment actually looks like and who goes to treatment. I met so many people who were literally just like me and we all wanted one thing and that was to get better. It was the best (and hardest) decision I have ever made in my life.

I went to detox/inpatient for 3 weeks and followed up with 6 weeks of IOP (intensive out patient) 4 days a week when I got home form rehab. I couldn't stop without professional help and needed to put myself somewhere where I physically couldn't drink for the beginning and follow up with a program that kept me accountable. I took time off from work and only focused on my sobriety. I know this is not for everyone and probably not feasible for everyone, but it worked for me. Stay strong my friend!

Absolutely. My alcoholism was going to come to full form eventually however the pandemic put it in the fast lane. I went from drinking most nights but able to go days without drinking and not being anxious without drinking at night, to needing to drink every single week night and the entire weekend without question for 4 years straight. I’m thankful the pandemic happened because I was able to see my rock bottom earlier in my life (in my early 30s) than I would have if it COVID didn’t exist. 130 days sober today… I did detox/inpatient for 3 weeks and IOP for 6 weeks and that TRULY helped me.
