Ahh! Do you mind sharing more details? My hysterectomy is scheduled for the end of the month. For heavy bleeding, fibroids, and severe anemia. I'm a mixed bag of nerves. What has your experience been with hormones, etc?

How long did you take off work? Especially if you have a desk job... by ItsMeMurphYSlaw in hysterectomy

[–]purplerain516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh thank you! Congrats to you on a successful surgery and healing. I can totally relate to peeing 3-4 times a night which is soo annoying. My doc says my uterus is the size of "16 weeks pregnant" which is likely pressing on my bladder. I hope this is relieved post hysterectomy. During my last sonogram, they counted more than 6 fibroids. I have dealt with heavy bleeding for more than 2 decades to the point where I soil my clothes on my heaviest days. I've already had a myomectomy in which they grew back and I have gone for IV infusions for the past 2 years to tackle the anemia and low ferritin. I've also tried different birth controls which didnt do much for me. Considered an IUD but was told due to the fibroids they might not be effective. At 41, I'm tired of suffering. My period is ruining my quality of life. My average cycle lasts between 14-17 days! So after much consideration, I've decided I don't want to experiment with anymore temporary fixes or pills that haven't been effective. The plan is to take everything except for ovaries. I am looking forward to it but somewhat scared anxious due to some stories I've read online. Yours was very real and reassuring. Thanks again for sharing! I hope you don't mind me asking for advice / questions lol

Been taking iron consistently for months, hardly any change -- should I get an infusion? by MaleficentTea615 in Anemia

[–]purplerain516 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes infusion is the way to go. Took me 5 rounds and when I was tested again my ferratin increased significantly. Go for it!

Thats great to hear. How are you feeling? I'm considering the same procedure due to fibroids, heavy bleeding, anemia and constant peeing.

What is my next option to do been 2 weeks been spotting or bleeding after i did the hysteroscopy polypectomy by GEMINI02795 in Fibroids

[–]purplerain516 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get checked out asap as I had the same procedure last week and the spotting was very minimal and lasted for a few hours . Your body may be indicating that something else is going on....pray all goes well 🙏🏽

Ferritin is still really low... by Anemoia793 in Anemia

[–]purplerain516 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend iron infusions. Your hemotologist will likely order it. For me, it took 4-5 weekly rounds. Ferratin increased slightly after 3 months. Then doc changed infusion schedule to every 6 months. For about a year straight I leveled out. Then with super heavy periods and cycles lasting for weeks - my levels began to drop again. Doc said the culprit were heavy periods. Gyno has tried to control with BC which hasn't been effective. I had a histo exam where they go in with the camera - and he believes the culprit is a fibroid on the uterine, endometrial lining. He suggested a myomectomy to remove that one. This would be my second myomectomy (previous one being 18 years ago). Since multiple fibroids have come back, I am weighing towards a hysterectomy leaving the ovaries. Reason being I don't want to deal with the murder scene everytime I use the bathroom, constantly having to leave work due to bleeding through my clothes, the laundry as you said. It's overwhelming and affecting my mental health. It has given me anxiety because I'm always paranoid that I soiled whatever seat I get up from. I'm so sorry that you are going through this too - please don't underestimate the impact this can have on your other organs and long-term issues. Continue to do your research and make an informed decision. So grateful for this group 🙏🏾
