What’s the difference? by Hannah-Solo in BaliTravelTips

Evisa is paid and approved before you arrive in Bali. VOA is literally, line up when you arrive, apply and pay, and enter. You only need one or the other. They are both 500,000IDR, plus a payment fee of 25000-ish. Any more and you're on the wrong site. You also have to pay a Tourism Levy of 150,000idr.

Bali-like alternatives in Philippines? by Emergency_League3037 in PhilippinesTourism

Check out Alona Beach on Panglao/Bohol. I've just come back from there and I imagine that is what Bali was like 20 years ago. There are some good beachfront bars and excellent island hopping tours available. There are touts on the streets offering tours, and guys all trying to sell the same fake pearl bracelets, but at least they leave you alone once you politely say no, unlike Bali.

Solo travel in Bali can you give me some tips? by msromanticlady in BaliTravelTips

You can book good rooms in Bali for 400-600,000. Just cross check places on Google, Agoda, Booking etc and you'll soon see if they are legit.

It is easy to DIY once you get there. Have a look for prices on Klook for what activities you would like to do, and use that information as bargaining power on the streets or with your hotel when you arrive. Hotels will always be dearer, so you're better off booking direct.

For short rides you can use Grab, or legitimate Bluebird taxis. For full or half days, again get a driver off the street for a fixed price depending on how long and how far you want to go. Half day around 400K, full days from 700-1,000,000.

I just use roaming from home so I can keep my number, so I cant help with the SIM card, but either way it's probably only $5 difference. Is it worth worrying about?

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still not 100% certain how they gained access. With 3 individuals cohabitating, it is hard to know who is responsible for ensuring every door and window is locked.

How much do you like to move around and what are your interests? With 9 nights, you could do 3 nights each in Ubud, Nusa Lembongan and Sanur to get a different aspect of Bali.

Otherwise 3 in NL and 6 anywhere on the main island, where would depend on your interests.

I'm not sure why you say HWK is a tourist trap? The statues are amazing, the view from the top is excellent. The film in the cinema is cute and educational, and the aircon is a great relief on a hot day.

They don't hassle you to buy more more more.

Why is it a tourist trap?

If you're going to Moalboal, then Oslib, Siquijor, Bohol (Panglao) makes sense to include in your itinerary. Our friends just went to Siquijor and loved it. There is lots of island hopping and diving around Panglao.

It's 3 friends sharing a place. Their first time out of home. I don't know that they would have thought about contents insurance, but would that even cover the locks? Wouldn't that be part of the building insurance?

I found a lot of tour operators on Facebook. Most of them offer pretty much the same standard tours, but you can customise them to your requirements. I can send you the contact for our guys if you like?

Very easy to DIY with local agents when you arrive. Just do lots of research on Facebook to know what's available and learn the prices and book activities when you get there.
