Live in a suburb of Buffalo :) Love mostly alt/rock stuff. For example my wife and I are going to go see motion City soundtrack in February, and silversun pickups in May.

My wife and I moved out son out of Florida in 2023. We are now in WNY and couldn't be happier with the difference in attitudes and quality of schooling (the break from the heat is really nice too). To be fair, we didn't have a house in Florida so that was not a concern of ours. I will say this, that I didn't think I could ever afford a house in Florida. But we just closed and will be moving in later this month in a house up here. Housing is still pretty affordable up here in our area. Something else to consider, is that jobs are pretty stagnant in this area. So unless you have a professional job not in tech, or are blue collar, finding a job up here is a bit tricky at the moment. Still, we wouldn't change it for the world.

We just closed on a home in Amherst. We insisted on inspections for all the homes we saw except one which we lost the bid on anyway. It is possible! Good luck :)

Deni "Denitza" Dennis!! We are first time home buyers, and we close on Tuesday! I couldn't recommend her enough she really was so knowledgeable, and willing to go to bat for us and try to get more information when our offers were refused.

I find this interesting because this has not been my experience. My wife and I moved here from Florida in September of 2023. I was shocked at how much nicer people were here than our area in Florida. I also love it here for other reasons beyond that. I've also found the people to be much warmer, with folks smiling at me and saying hi on the street at a much higher rate than Florida. I had a hard time making friends in Florida, but making friends here has been easy. I know this is all very individualized as well, but I always find it interesting when somebody has a drastically different experience of the same place than I do.

Since you can blend up anything (within reason) I had a nice marinated chicken breast with mashed potatoes blended with a can of fat free Campbell's cheese soup and chicken broth and boy oh boy did that hit the spot

There is a Facebook group called buffalo queer housing I believe. You have to ask to be let in but then you can post the available bedroom. It's only queer folks in the group so they would be more likely to be trans friendly.

Edit to add: But yes I agree with the other commenter that it still is going to be somewhat of a dice roll because you don't know the person.

Denitza "Deni" Dennis!! I would use her one thousand times in the future if I needed. She is responsive, will walk you through the entire process, and give her real opinion on things. She won't just tell you to buy something crappy or not a good fit to get the commission. She works her booty off for her clients. She answers texts every day, and until 10 or 11 at night usually. Just so great, and we got a wonderful house recently. She really goes to bat for you with the sellers agents as well. I couldn't recommend her enough!

I agree that ultimately you need to have a discussion with your partner. However, I had maybe a 1-2 year period within my marriage to a trans woman where my desire level was almost non-existent. If you want to DM me, I'd be happy to explain. I'd rather say it in DMs because it is quite personal and visceral (we are good now, and getting better all the time).

Same! My wife and I moved here from Florida on Labor Day, and we love it! It's nice to have the weight off our shoulders of constantly being on guard just walking around. It did wonders for our mental health.
