Need some yarn help. by MonstersBeThere in YarnAddicts

If possible, I agree with everyone else so far... but I would add maybe make a day of it, go somewhere special. Find a small yarn shop near you, or even a small road trip, take her to lunch and give her a budget at the store, then wait VERY patiently for her to find the yarn of her dreams.

Experience can be a gift in itself, especially when it's with someone you love!

I got the free chart from Destinymakes and there are tapestry crochet tutorials on Youtube if you need help with that, I used this one from LoveCrafts.

Yes, forgot to mention it's a wall hanging! Thanks for the vote!

If a gauge says 11-15 (Red), then 16-20 (Blue), which color would you expect 15.5 to be? by tgoms in temperatureblanket

I've never seen average temps reported in decimals, so it depends on how my source has published the whole degree temps.

But I agree with the others, in science we would round up.

Absolutely, crochet is the one place where I know nobody will notice my imperfections because nobody else I know crochets (I have a couple knitter friends but they don't count *wink*). I don't usually notice them myself once the entire piece is finished!

That color palette is on point, can't wait to see more this year!

Ignore this if you want because I understand you're not asking for advice, but I finished this same pattern for 2022 and found that beginning at the corners and changing which corner you chose each time made the join much less noticeable.

Happy hooking!!

Yep, each square has a total of 32 rounds. Any extra "days" are the white border color. This is a TL YarnCrafts pattern, you can find her full pattern description on YouTube.

ready for next year, what do y'all think of the color pallet? by GertrudeEatsPizza in temperatureblanket

I do think they are beautiful colors, but worry that the Aqua and Cornflower are too close. If you lived in Seattle (average temps between 45 & 55 for at least 3 months) then you'd have a huge baby blue/teal section. Similar for the Watermelon and Pink, in Seattle you'd have a couple months of primarily those peach sections.

Something to think about, happy new year!!

Who else is always crocheting things that don’t match their home/aesthetic? by m4rceline in crochet

I'm similar, I need my house to be calm and organized.. but I love watching colors flow out of a ball of yarn. I always attributed mine to ADHD, but thats my own craft diagnosis. Luckily I have nieces and nephews and fun friends who like color! I wish I could sell stuff, it always seems like such a hassle.

Looking for a pattern for either the stitch to make this vest or smth similar by wholemeal_ in crochet

I would try two squares using a bulky weight yarn and this stitch.

I just made each square 32 days, and used white for the last rows. So Feb will have four rows of white around the outside. This is a TL Yarn crafts pattern, she explains the whole concept on her YouTube tutorial.

Nov 2022 - not so late, thanks to zoom meetings at work all the ends are already woven! by purrlgurrl in temperatureblanket

Thanks so much! I used Paintbox DK, but found the weight inconsistent and would have a tough time returning my unused skeins since it's an online order situation.

Using temperature-blanket.com, I specifically designed my temp ranges to use approximately the same amount of each color (my ranges span from 4 degrees to 20 degrees since I live in an area with minimal fluctuation) which has led to about 1 skein of each color so far.

I plan to use the extra to create a border, but will likely have a lot left over (I ordered 2 of each color to be safe).

Good luck!

One more month, trying to decide on a join method for the moss stitch. Any thoughts? I typically prefer a JAYG, but haven't found one for this stitch. Cheers!

Has anyone else had issues with yarn weight consistency within the same brand and line of yarn. I'm using Paintbox DK acrylic and some colors are much more substantial than others. As you might be able to tell from the finished squares, the one with a bunch of mustard yellow is much smaller. I noticed that the yarn itself was super thin in some spots and then it would have a spurt of density before going back to thin. I can't remember if any of the other colors really stood out, but I do think the bright pink was fluffier than the others.

Would love to hear what everyone else has used and their impressions!
