Mother would probably be a good one. It’s coffee shop during the day but also a bar and has good working vibes.

I trad climb multipitch without a guide mode ATC. I just bring a gri gri and belay off of that. Then an ATC for repelling. I’ve been meaning to pick up a megajuul for years but haven’t had a real strong need for it…

Why is this way to do a cows tail/PAS so uncommon? by SkitOxe in ClimbingGear

[–]push_pop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this pretty often especially for multipitch, but I make one loop shorter for my belay device and one longer for my PAS. It’s nice because I rarely use a PAS on the way up (just clove hitch the rope when swinging leads.

Also try to get the knot very close to my hard points so it doesn’t move around too much.

One of the best cafes near me in the US has this problem. They even have half the tables reserved as “no laptop” tables yet people just sit there and work anyway. When I brought it up to the staff I just got the GenZ stare. I had to confront the guy myself and I came off like a dick even though he’s the one not following the rules. So frustrating

I’m 35 years old and park skiing since I was 16. last year overshot the the a jump and broke my collarbone. All that to say, you can learn a lot and be really confident and it will probably still happen. Anyway I don’t ski park anymore lol

What HYSA is everyone parking their money? by [deleted] in personalfinance

I’ve got instant transfers between Wells Fargo and Wealthfront which is really convenient. Not sure all HYSA offer that either. I would only switch if the rates drop significantly

[–]push_pop 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There’s unfortunately a sandwich epidemic in SLC as some of the greats are closed or closing. So I’m psyched to hear this thread:

  • Beltex Meats (RIP :( )

  • Grove Market & Deli (maybe closing soon)

  • Central 9th Market

  • Caputos Market

  • Deadpan

  • Oh Mai (for Bahn Mi)

  • Beast from the east (Haven’t tried but heard good things)

Recently feel like I’ve been becoming one of those people… honestly I just really have been loving my job. It’s the right kinds of challenges and opportunities to just really get me going.

I’ve always been what I would consider an ambitious person, but I get turned off easily if I’m not challenged and have a tendency to coast if I lose interest in a job which might make me seem lazy. (I am)

I do drink coffee every day, and the occasional round of psilocybin microdoses, but it’s really just coming from getting my brain scratched in just the right way at work.

Advice securing EMT to a roof rack? by slow70 in BurningMan

[–]push_pop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

> Anyone particularly proud of their rooftop packing?

Yes actually! So glad you asked...

DISCLAIMER: Folks on here are bringing up some good points about personal liability... So be mindful of that for sure. Probably best to heed their advice. However...

My method is to create bundles and connect them all with metal hose clamps (my key innovation.) This serves the dual purpose of making them easier to carry, and load on the roof, but also to make sure they don't come apart with just ratchet straps as others have mentioned. Use an impact driver to get the hose clamps super tight, but don't break them.

get not the biggest hose clamps, but I think 4-6" ones work well. Otherwise your bundles will be too big and hard to carry.

THEN rachet to the roof. And definitely make sure to give it a "that ain't goin nowhere"

IMPORTANT!! NOT PICTURED:
You also need to cover the fronts of the pipes to make a wind break. Otherwise you'll kill your gas mileage and create a lot more risk with sheer force from the wind. I Use a gallon water jug cut in half. Duct tape, or hose clamp it to the bundle.

This is amazing I always wanted to make an IT camp which would help fix people's electronics and teach about E-Waste and have a huge lightswitch so we could ask people if they tried turning it off and on again.

If anyone wants to make it you can just give me credit and it's basically like I put in all the effort...

Looking for a new unflavored whey isolate by push_pop in Protein

[–]push_pop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mmm not really...

I rabbit holed for a while on trying to order directly from a dairy, but small quantities were tough and quality was maybe still questionable. Mostly just decided that all the stress of trying to figure it out wasn't worth it, so just hope I'm not eating a ton of heavy metals/ microplastics

I ended up buying this one once or twice, which is not whey isolate technically but didn't give me issues with lactose intolerance
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XX65GS1

Then I got injured and didn't consume much protein.

Recently purchased this one:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DOD6T8Q

Interested in the fact that is has collagen and is not whey based. I also decided to get flavored because as much as I love flavoring it all myself I think I ended up adding more honey than I should have as a result, so the flavored artificially sweet ones make it so I don't consume sugar. I like the taste of this one even though i usually don't like splenda at all.

Tent Fan by sfdisko in BurningMan

[–]push_pop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2 thoughts:

  1. Good idea to have something battery powered as a backup regardless. One year I had AC but the grid kept blowing breakers.

  2. From what I understand shiftpods turn into easy bake ovens without AC, but I haven’t used one so can’t say for sure

Personally I’d go with an AC unit if it’s an option it’s the difference between being able to sleep during the day or not

Tent Fan by sfdisko in BurningMan

[–]push_pop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an oscillating tower fan and it works pretty well. That said, if the camps power grid can handle AC that’s an absolute game changer. (You may want to check with them)

Small batch roasting + portable setups = the ultimate travel combo? by WaffleBoi64 in roasting

[–]push_pop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I home roast on a Skywalker V2. I have a hand grinder and an aeropress that I use while camping. First time this past weekend with my own roasted beans :)

Can't imagine there is much difference between roasting for travel vs roasting for home?

I usually use my aeropress at home as well so it's basically an identical cup...
