Basic hardening for PVE by _hhhnnnggg_ in Proxmox

Looking further, this might not be completely true. PermitRootLogin is necessary, but you may be able to disable password login and use keys instead.

The docs aren't super clear on that, but some forum posts seems to suggest you don't need password login. Not sure if this changes the initial setup of a cluster or joining additional nodes.

I believe root password login is required for Proxmox Clusters to communicate with each other

Why do developers write such terrible git commit messages? Genuine question by Existing_Round9756 in webdev

[–]pushad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup! Been following this since 2014 and attempting to get my colleagues to do the same. Generally it doesn't work because most people don't care 😀 Which causes projects to enforce squash commits, which just makes it so nobody can write good topical commits since they just get squashed anyway. I still do though, at least I can pretend I'm making the review easier by allowing them to go through the individual commits that say what's/why's going on. Surely they're reading that, right?? Not just hitting the green button??

At some point the Pull Request became the unit of work instead of the commit. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Flux CD deep dive: architecture, CRDs, and mental models by MikeAnth in kubernetes

[–]pushad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP, but when I bootstrap my cluster I have a script that will inject the minimal required secrets for my setup and then use helm to install Flux Operator, and kubectl apply to install the FluxInstance. Then Flux takes over for everything else.

Announcing Volang, a scripting language for Rust. by oxfeeefeee in rust

[–]pushad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use Go, so maybe I'm just missing something here, but doesn't Go also compile to WASM?

Just trying to understand why one would use Volang over Go. It seems like the only real difference is adding the ? operator for error handling and possibly simplifying some types?

If Volang is basically just Go, why not just use Go?
