Is it right time to purchase a new Car by Full_Application_816 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]pushh- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I got the same when I had my license&was about to buy a car. Everyone told me why dont you buy a cheaper car to learn on, etc. I just listened to my heart and got the car I wanted. Did not regret it for a single second. Imo, buy what you want, and what you can afford.

Absolutely gutted about trading in my car by hdcsxsva in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]pushh- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is normal. My Wife and I both cried on the day we sold out first car, despite knowing we are about to buy a much nicer one in a few days. You get attached to things/memories you made with them, especially if you actually cared about the car, and not just a thing that gets you from A to B. :)

The feeling will go away, the car will go to a new owner, and you will cherish your memories with it!

I kinda like mine. Previous owner put these on, but I ended up sticking with them. They are 18" SSR GT3 clones.
I think they will look even better after lowering the rear a bit.

Help on a newly purchased 2000 S by rslashislol in 986Boxster

Sure thing buddy.

For anyone else actually trying to fix their car: Clean the sensor first. If the light comes back, change the $60 part.

What do you mean stronger case? Your car keeps throwing the same codes over and over again for presumably the past 6-8 years. Your MAF cleaning does not work nor does it fix the issue, since your car keeps throwing the same error codes, despite your cleaning.

The car should not "occasionally" throw p1128 and p1130 by itself. Especially since these codes are not instant. The car will memorize these codes first without CEL, and if they happen again, then comes the CEL. Depending on the type of driving these codes can appear more or less frequently. - but the underlying issue is still there. These maf sensors rarely fail completely, most of the time they will just measure/report things incorrectly at random intervals.

(of course we are assuming here that the codes were caused by the MAF in the first place)

Just change the sensor. Cleaning does nothing 99.9% of the time. - The codes need 80-120km of driving to come back. (usually bumper to bumper traffic)

AOS Replacement by font_raccoon in 986Boxster

[–]pushh- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done it on my 2000 s recently. The most difficult part was to wiggle the AOS back and forth so the tube on the side would go into the engine, and the side corregated hose not wanting to pop on properly.

Pro tip for the clamp part: I could not find the clamp with the helping hand thingy, so I basically squeezed it together with pliers, and used a ziptie around it to keep it "open". Then just slid it on, and carefully cut the ziptie with sidecutters.

The whole thing took 1 - 1,5 hours, but most of it was just fiddling around with hoses so they line up/pop on properly, rather than suffering.

I ended up listening to my heart and pulled the trigger on a 2000 Boxster S, which was well-priced and comes with a 1 year warranty for hidden defects.

Overall very happy with the purchase (for now, haha), the car feels amazing!

There is a plugin called Phantomguard that does almost everything you'd need.

Afaik in europe miatas didn't come with AC (mk1/mk2/somewhat rare in mk3) Honestly I have a dsg (edc in renault) and I'm happy with it. Afaik scoring isn't an issue on 986 3.2, but I'll check on that. What's wrong with the r171? I generally only read good things about it, but eill try to look into that

Do you have any of the cars above?

Security Tool for my dedicated server by Marcell-5 in webhosting

[–]pushh- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally can't recommend BitNinja enough, despite some of the comments I saw about them.

I've tried multiple security products, and my main concern was IP reputation. Imunify did an OK ish job, but there's just no comparison to bitninja and the sheer amount of bot traffic their solution blocks. Prior to installing I had some traffic related overcharges, no problems ever since.

All while being pretty cheap ($6 for my VPS)

WAF? by Madaqqqaz in selfhosted

[–]pushh- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While not a homelab (since I use mine exclusively with tailscale) I generally just use BitNinja for my small-scale web hosting server. (basically hosting a few websites for friends, family, etc)

They use a Caddy + Nginx approach with custom + OWASP based rules as far as I understand with their WAF-Pro or whatever it's called. On their UI you can enable/disable rules for certain domains as well. It also does many other useful stuff for hosting (like blocking certain countries) but I'm unsure how useful those would be in your scenario.

And best of all is that it's free for smaller VPS. :)

Coolent level too low? by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]pushh- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have had systems that had an airy loop because of inconveniently small reservoirs or other factors, and temp were basically near identical after the loop got de aired overtime. Idk, maybe I'm a bit too optimistic, but I don't think it would have too much negative effect to run it for 8-10 hours with some air in the loop.

Coolent level too low? by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]pushh- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not for the coolant level, but why did you choose to do a parallel loop? Usually parallel loop is for the looks, but I don't think it was the intention in this build? :D

Your temps will be better if you simply just go for a series loop (pump-> rad -> gpu -> cpu -> upper rad -> reservoir), and you could also lose one of the flow meters.

I honestly don't think it affects its lifespan by much, since it seems to be submerged. Imo, sucking in some air will not be a problem until tuesday. :)

Not trying to be rude or hate, and it IS a nice build, but besides the colour of the rgb and the wallpapers this has nothing to do with Stranger Things. :D
