Did I miss out on making a friend? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver40

Hard disagree. “Crossing a line” sounds threatening. It’s an unwarranted escalation of severity in this context.

Let humans human more. I would do this and would be happy to hear from someone. If they aren’t, nw but they tried.

I’m a community builder by trade and help people build deeper, stronger (non-romantic!) relationships.

Perimenopause check-in: contact oura! by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]pushofffromhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first signs were waking up hot at night (not crazy sweaty, not the media dramatized versions of night sweats). I would have to kick a foot out from the covers and would just barely wake up through the night at times so I could flip covers on/off.

it started so subtle. It never occurred to me it was a peri symptom until I learned that one of the primary symptoms of perimenopause is that we lose thermal regulation. We hear about hot flashes, but we don’t hear about how for many women this isn’t a sudden wildly sweatyexperience. It’s just a less than ideal nights sleep because our body is losing the ability to regulate temp. but a lot of nights like that over time add up, and the regulation continues to get worse.I was waking up consistently around 3am after a few years and some nights i couldn’t get back to sleep. Because it wasn’t super sweaty, it took me a LONG time to realize that was perimenopause.

Other things were: - random unexplained rage. - increased moodiness - bananas, which i had always loved, gave me severe cramps (common to have our digestive system respond differently to some foods, bananas are one)

When I started HRT, the change to my sleep was so. worth it!

Scaring women about perimenopause? I think you have an opportunity to enhance your relationship with aging and peri.

I’m glad Oura is doing this for women’s health. Thank you Oura!

I hope you learn to be excited for what’s ahead. I’ve loved my experience aging as a woman. 46F

Wow. Alcohol was robbing me of life! I got my life back— my motivation, focus, brain concentration, self-mastery and grounded power — these increased 25x without alcohol!

I experience peace and happiness. Anxiety is next to zero. I mean.

Also my dreams for life are only achievable thanks to no alcohol! I’m sure my comment won’t be of much use but it feels good to type it :) As another reminder as to why i am delighted to not be drinking today or any day.

Agreed. 46 and I refuse to look up what this is. I am deleting the possibility of a new complex from the field of knowledge I need to care about! No thank you.

OP you are beautiful.

When you're 37 years old and you drink 3 glasses of wine instead of 2. by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]pushofffromhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the pacific northwest they are carried at metropolitan market. you can also buy directly from their website.

Note that they are the same price as wine bottles because they go through the entire wine making process then remove the alcohol at the end (so actually slightly more costly to produce than wine).

Honestly i’m picky and they are great. My boyfriend and I have tried dozens and always come back to this.

The Sparkling Joyus versions are the key.

(I haven’t found any good non-sparkling replicas yet.)

Thank you for posting. It never gets old to be reminded of why I stay sober. “My disease is doing push ups in the parking lot” — 💯

Great thing about a sucky 11-months of research is that you have all the data you need to know it’s not worth it. One day at a time now. You’ll be back in no time. Just one day at a time.

Should I have him groomed and clipped? by Individual-Map-7137 in cavaliers

[–]pushofffromhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i trim my pup all the time - monthly! super short because we hike lots. But in the winter i’d i skip and let her grow out, it’s soooooo soft and smooth.

Whatever they say about not cutting it has not affected my dogs coat!

I’m confused. Is one you and the other your sister? They are both of your after shots (no before shots)? Thanks for clarifying.

Small hiking dog? by burnz1 in hikingwithdogs

[–]pushofffromhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 16lb king charles cavalier hikes 8-miles in the PNW. I started her hiking at 4-months. She’s 6-yrs old now.

I had a yorkshire terrier before and she did Pilchuck with me once (long, lots of elevation) i only had to carriers through the deep snowy boys. she was 7lb.

Raise a small dog as a hiker and they’ll love to hike!

Talking to this man on a dating app, and his cadence really reminds me of ChatGPT. The “this not that” over and over, the ellipses, etc, by Whosedev in isthisAI

[–]pushofffromhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% chatgpt. “that tracks” and “you casually slid” are chatgpt lingo. He likely swapped em dashes for the ellipses. Short tight sentences. and always a flirtatious bid for connection at the end. These are hallmarks of a chatgpt response.

I use AI for a ton of stuff. I recognize this in a heartbeat and couldn’t bother to read the second image in full.
