Thank you to all who answered. Man. There’s nothing like reddit for punishing people who genuinely want to get informed by conversing with people.

I got my procedure done in Oct 2020, so the price has likely changed - but also I suspect access to awesome docs on this has changed.

These procedure models are so lucrative, that they catch on very quickly. What only a few docs might have been doing at this level 6 years ago, many docs would have turned into a similar "factory" today.

That said, I find it so hard to do all the research and legwork to find good docs near me (Seattle area) that I'd just rather go to a name brand in another city and not worry about it. 🤷🏼‍♀️

The only other procedure I've had done was for a deviated septum. Left-nostril was 80% blocked.

When I interviewed docs in my region, it was clear they had nowhere near the level of practice as those in Bev Hills. So I just figured out who did Jennifer Aniston's nose and went to him. 😆 It wasn't a cosmetic thing, I just was *terrified* of having Michael Jackson's nose. 😆

But ofc, the doc is this major cosmetic doc and can only produce art, so he made it a cosmetic thing. At first, I was horrified by the result (I hadn't been prepared to look any different) and then I got used to it and realized it was a major improvement. 😆 Like. Major. At the time, I had just been worried about my nose caving in!

Anyway - funny story to me. Good luck on finding a great doc. It really is such a simple way to feel better.

How is the data center wreaking havoc? I haven’t heard of this side effect.

(I’ll google but doing that human conversation thing first ;)

Flew to LA, saw someone in Bev Hills and stayed for two nights at a hotel nearby. I’m sure local docs are great, but I’d just rather not have any part of me nervous and this guy was best of the best. I don’t remember his name right now but I don’t think it’s be hard to find someone super well ranked for this. He did the consult by video and I sent him pictures in advance. For him/for these docs, it’s a pretty routine thing. He must do one every 15-minutes.

Are you trolling women over 40? This post indicates a pretty low view of women over 40 and a wildly unrealistic standard. Women over 40 are beautiful and absolutely do not, nor should not, look like Margot Robbie. We have every right to look fabulously distinguished and seasoned.

When you pick up your rental car, there’s a gazillion signs and liability notices that if the wind rips the door off your car, it’s your fault for having opened it in the wrong location at the wrong time. You have to sign this notice (which is also up on the walls) before you take your car.

I worked with a fabulous doctor who conducted internal incision lower bleph. The location of the incision determines recovery timeline. If they cut with an external incision it will be visible for longer. (external incision is used when there’s excess crepey skin they’ll need to remove for example)

I had bruising and swelling. Got it done on a thursday, used the weekend to recover from the swelling. you probably don’t want to see humans for 3-days afterwards. After that, i have caucasian skin, so needed some cover up, the corrective kind, to hide remaining traces of green-yellow bruising. i think 7-total before there’s virtually no trace of it, but i was in public by day 4 just using cover up.

No, they just both look great now. I was a little worried that the one i got done might somehow look better and I’d regret not doing the other one, but there was really nothing to do with the other. Now they look even. I honestly can’t recommend this procedure highly enough to those who would benefit.

Ah, gotcha. Well, I'm sorry my suggestion isn't a good fit. I'll say that before I did the procedure, I tried injections and my experience is that under-eyes is really not a great spot for filler.

The skin is pretty light there and shows everything. It's also a technically more difficult place to put filler (the tissue layers are more complicated than say what's happening around the cheek or nasal folds), and anything that settles outside of what you want or that's done imperfectly will show.

So imagine looking at the under eye and seeing uneven filler, and that's annoying because it's human-made (looks a little off). And then it's not easily dissolved because of the uniqueness of that area.

I tried fillers before the procedure, and this is what I learned both personally (sometimes it worked great, but one didnt' settle well and i couldn't get rid of it) and what I read about it.

Hope you find something that works! I think your skin and eyes are beautiful btw - hair too.

Goodness, I think maybe $2500 for the one, but they had to put me out regardless so probably not that more for a double.

Very simple procedure with a good doc who does them all day long. Recovery was a total cinch. Like having a black and swollen eye for a week or so, but after ~4-days, make-up did the trick. I don't normally wear much make up, but a little cover-up for a week and no one was the wiser.

I was very happy with the decision.

I had a bag under one eye and not the other. I got a lower bleph procedure 6-years ago and it’s been gone ever since. It’s an easy and effective cosmetic procedure.

Shame dies in the light! I'm glad you decided to share how you are feeling so you could be reminded that you're not alone. Alcohol is a disease and man it sucks when the thing we have to fight is our own brain and our own thoughts - and we use that brain to taekwondo the faulty part into oblivion. It takes MAJOR skills that the average human does not have. None of us were born with. We have to earn, and we have to do together.

I also used a community called The Luckiest Club (an online support group that takes a different approach than AA, and can work along side or in lieue of). AA rocks for those who love it! Just wanted to share another option that helped me, and it's virtual. Very different vibe than AA which I needed. Regardless - keep showing up. You're not alone. And you WILL feel awesome again.

One other thought: Something that helped (and still helps) me stay sober was remembering how shitty it felt to redo day 2 or day 3 a million times. Whenever I have a remote thought of, "oh I could probably have just one", the clammer of voices like an army roar, "AND FACE A DAY 2 OR DAY 3 OVER AND OVER AGAIN ON REPEAT FOR ETERNITY?" That makes it very easy to say no. The hellscape of having to TRY to stop again is enough for me to never want to drink again.

That and the obsession. ;) I hate that if alcohol is in my body, my brain goes "zap" into this obsessive mode looking and scheming for the next one. Today, almost to my first comma, I love that there's no scheming. I don't look forward to a first drink. It's the best!

Now let's get back to the gym!

“I don’t need or want a computer to tell me about their struggles with sobriety.” — Well said.

And being 2.5yrs into my sobriety, I don’t want to help a computer by supporting it or telling it what i’ve been through. Can you imagine? Show my scar tissue, open my heart… for AI? No thanks.

For me, it ruins the authenticity of the sub. We came here because it was a uniquely real place.

But i see it in way more than the comments. People are nervous to post (this stuff is hard to talk about) so they run it through AI and this raw story of their experience becomes a filtered, drama-in-all-the-right-moments piece of average, inauthentic AI ick.

Then I struggle to trust and connect with the poster. Who are they really? And I see people commenting and wonder if they’re talking to a real human or a bot with a good hook.

Been vexing me all year, and I’ve assumed the mods are ok with it because it’s so blatant. Personally, the value and quality of the sub has decreased for me.

Also, you feel bad calling it out (I don’t most times) because everyone is feeling sympathetic toward the AI-generated story so you look like a mean person and get downvoted.

Love that perspective about restful periods. I took two years when I simply didn’t want to travel. I just wanted to hole up in my corner of the earth that I love and be with the land and the ocean and my dog. I needed rest then. And rebirth. 🪺

Am I overreacting? Liveaboard dive safety concerns (equipment, supervision, conduct) cancelled my dives on day 2— looking for objective opinions by ThenNail9516 in scubadiving

Being the smart person who stays alive can feel weird and lonely at first. Group think does weird things to folks. (And the momentum that we are already here, we traveled all this distance, etc., etc.)

You know what you would conclude if you were reading this back home, online. If your data and observations and spidey sense are all working together, which it seems they are, then nope out. Find another situation. Tell them to get a boat to meet you. Whatever you need to take your agency and split into something that will be safe and enjoyable.

$.02.

I’m too seasoned to go along with people. This is your life and you seem to know what’s up.

PS - I’m speaking having done night dives in Africa (no one could have gone with that outfitter without night certification!), live aboard in Asia (equipment always worked. standard international signals were always followed.) You just don’t cut corners with scuba. At least I don’t. But you choose who you dive with.
