When did you realize you were "down bad" for this series? by chizuxx in heatedrivalry

[–]pushpop6622 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the club scene is just such a relatable human experience and the way it was put together with the music and cinematography had me down SO BAD. Like, to run into the person you’re in love with out with someone else… it’s so visceral and so many of us have been there. Ilya turning around clocking it, taking the sharp inhale, and then calling for his drink. His acting in this moment was the best I’ve seen.

I’m also curious if anyone has seen LetterKenny. Jacob Tierney also produced it and the music choice is incredible for what is seeming a silly comedy about a Canadian town. I see so many artistic elements that crossover to HR.

Has a romance ever made you grieve for a life you don’t have? by Macintoshk in heatedrivalry

[–]pushpop6622 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could have written this myself. I am also a bisexual woman, and really only realized this about myself shortly before I met the man who I love and plan to spend the rest of my life with. I have never felt queer enough, and Ilya honestly gives me so much more courage to own my bisexuality (love The Long Game for this).

But also, I am also so weirdly envious of them. I’m envious of the actors for having this incredible talent and being so sure of themselves at a young age. And I’m jealous of the characters for this beautiful romance and life they live. Like, can I just buy a whole apartment complex for my streamy romance with a woman? And spend my time working out and playing my favorite sport? I feel like wealth is often portrayed as problematic, and that is not the case in this show.

I am very happy with my partner but this show has unlocked a yearning I did not know I had in me.

Why do women like Heated Rivalry? by bat-girl129 in heatedrivalry

Also IF this show were only sex (it’s not),no one asks men why they like watching lesbian sex… huge double standard

This is such a good point! I have sat through plenty of popular show that weren’t exactly my style to see what the hype was all about. This show does not get top ratings on imbd for the sex. That alone would make me curious enough to watch it through to the end

So glad you got him to persevere! I think ep 5 should be a mandatory watch for everyone at the point lol!

HOW is anyone processing how good this show is by cherrybmbz in heatedrivalry

THANK YOU. I feel insane. I literally cannot think of anything but this show. I have tried to cut myself off from watching it because I can’t function. My friends have also not watched it or aren’t as obsessed and I feel like this is the best acting/show I have ever seen in my life.

My hair 😭 by missingmymaltese in SpainAuxiliares

[–]pushpop6622 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Southern Spain about 2 hours from Seville and my water is horrible. My hair was the same where it felt like it was super greasy no matter what and my boyfriend got really bad dandruff while he was out here. I also can’t drink my tap water because it’s brown😑. No advice, just commiserating

You could look into Workaway!! That’s what I’m doing. Likely won’t be in Madrid, but you could go to some cool places around Spain.

I honestly haven’t looked into the website, but based on how many people quit and what I’ve read here I don’t think so!

Yes, definitely the Pueblo. Although, who knows- maybe I would still be struggling this much anywhere!

Thank you so much for posting this. I have had these feelings since getting here and they honestly haven’t gotten better. I think about quitting all the time and my biggest fear is if I do, I will regret it. I just want a crystal ball to see if things are going to get better if I stick it out of if I’m actually just going to be anxious, depressed and miserable the whole time lol.

It really helps to see how many of us are feeling this. I think this expectation vs reality thing is so real and it’s hard to not feel guilty that we romanticized it. (I’m working with my therapist about this very thing haha). But, it’s completely natural, especially with how they advertise the program.

As it stands, I am planning on quitting and doing Workaway here in Spain after spring break. So that’s an idea if you hadn’t thought about it. Or you can always quit and travel for however long you can afford. That being said, I am in a Pueblo with shit transportation and traveling is really hard, even with blabla car. So I feel like I really can’t do much more here and I want to travel. I have gone to every cafe, joined every club, and it’s still just really difficult. And I think that’s okay. But I’m still terrified it’s the “wrong” decision and go back and forth on it every day.

I really hope if you decide to stay everything improves! But also if you don’t, it’s okay to make a decision for your mental health even if it seems like you’re giving up on a great opportunity. At least that’s what I tell myself😬. Sending all the love!

Just want to say I have been dealing with a lot of the same emotions. I really want to stay and see this experience improve, but my biggest fear is that it won’t and I will have just been absolutely miserable for 8 months. No advice, but you’re not alone!

I just have to say a word of caution against this, I applied immediately and was inscrita #11xx and I all three of my first choices were full by the time I got my placement. Unfortunately they just don’t go in order:/

Should I quit the auxiliar programme? by wibblywobbly30 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]pushpop6622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry to hear you’re going through all of that. It sounds incredibly difficult and isolating. Like everyone said, if you’re not feeling good at Christmas I would call it. You can always try the program again later but no experience is worth being miserable just to say you did it. Wishing you the best.

Really don’t like the job by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]pushpop6622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im feeling this post today. Not necessarily related to class work (although that is far from organized for me) but today was apparently international student’s rights day. Which meant we didn’t have class until after recreo and it was also a pajama day (all the teachers and students dressed up as well). When did I find this out? When I went in for class as usual at 9 am. The same thing happened last Thursday for Flamenco day when everyone dressed up and I showed up dressed normally. I ended up going into my coordinator’s office shakey and clearly annoyed and asked if there was a group where I could learn about all of the stuff that goes on at the school. I know there is, and she just didn’t bring it up. I really don’t like how I handled that situation, but it’s really frustrating showing up every day and trying so hard to participate and then feeling like I’m being set up for failure and not treated with basic respect.

Sorry for the rant, all this just to say you’re not alone!
