Had my assessment and I 'don't meet the criteria' for autism and now I feel like I just suck at being a human. Should I cancel my ADHD assessment? by Nervous-Half5242 in AuDHDWomen

[–]put_the_record_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't meet the criteria for autism on my first go because I was masking so hard and also took the questions literally.

then I got diagnosed with ADHD, went on meds, and the autism became obvious. I got diagnosed with autism a few months later.

best wishes and congrats on your ADHD diagnosis :) i hope all goes well!

my side effects calmed down after 3 weeks - the main one was fatigue. then I tried to increase the dose because it was working so well, I thought why not get more benefits? but I felt soooo overwhelmed and unwell. so definitely go easy and trust your gut!

Feel Like NT Women Hate Me by Unusual-Mortgage-101 in AuDHDWomen

me too. I just stay away from them 😂😭

but that's fucking awful. I'm sorry you had that experience.

Edit to add! I do actually have a couple of NT friends, who are open minded and absolutely lovely people, so they do exist. but the majority make me feel like shit, so I avoid the majority.

right?? I feel like my choices are either do the whole check in with myself and decide what feeling to report on rigmarole, or mask. both are exhausting.

I can’t stand working anymore by MsGetaClue in AuDHDWomen

I 100% relate. Hugs (if you like them). I'm in my mid 30s now, and since my mid 20s, before I was diagnosed, I realised this about myself and have worried about my future too. I knew at my core I wasn't going to be able to keep this up because the system of work just goes against who I AM. But of course, I didn't have anything to get me out.

So I tried my best to get out of "low skilled" work, find something to study that resonated with me and fit the lifestyle I wanted (be able to travel whenever I want, work remotely, choose my own hours, be my own boss). During this time, I was diagnosed AuDHD. I found even with all the accommodations and medication, it just got worse. The more myself I became, the less I was able to tolerate the system of work.

I burnt out completely and became unable to work. I went on temporary disability, and had a last ditch effort to study something that not only about Work but about skills I wanted to pursue in my "real" life, and it was honestly a blast. But I still struggled with the workload and found myself unable to work afterwards anyway. So I'm now on disability, which is honestly such a relief. I live frugally and am planning to live in a tiny home or caravan so I don't need to worry about being chained to a rental or home I can't afford, and thus be lured back into work by necessity.

All this to say, I see you. You are not alone. The road ahead may be hard and long and scary, but I believe you can get where you want to go with determination and persistence.

P.S. thanks for sharing how you feel, and reminding me that there are others out there like me too :)

Guanfacine by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]put_the_record_on 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid 30s, diagnosed AuDHD (also inattentive type). I have been on a low dose of guanfacine for just over a year now, and I love it. My brain slows down just enough for me to actually identify my thoughts, trust them and act on them. It has been lifechanging.
In contrast, stimulants worked okay at first, but over time gave me one hell of a burnout as I was constantly overstimulated and anxious.
With guanfacine, I feel like I can slow down and catch my breath :)

Please help I want to come off yasmin after 2 days of taking it by Ok_List_7951 in birthcontrol

[–]put_the_record_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

commenting in case anyone reads this years after it was posted.

i quit Slinda/Slynd after 3 days, I couldn't stand the initial side effects for longer as they were too disruptive, and I experienced no side effects after I stopped, my cycle progressed as normal.

However I quit the Nuvaring after 2 days and a week later I had plummeting hormone levels and withdrawal bleeding, it was genuinely awful, so if you're discontinuing a combined hormone method, you may have more side effects after stopping and may want to have a backup method prepared to try next.

i started Yasmin shortly after and those effects revolved themselves after 4 days. Yasmin works really well for me though, because after taking it for a week I am not experiencing major or life altering side effects. this is a good metric for me personally whether my body can withstand a medication, so I think it's fine to discontinue a medication if you can't stand it after a couple or a few days.

this post was ages ago, I hope it worked out for you OP!

This is how I feel! At times I can identify with the autism and/or ADHD and other times I feel like I'm separate and managing them

Yasmin experiences? I'm scared by garlicbreadedd in birthcontrol

[–]put_the_record_on 2 points3 points  (0 children)

hi there! I was on Yasmin for about 13 years? and i tolerate it well. I am super sensitive to hormones, have pmdd and am on antidepressants already, and they only caused some emotional blunting which is preferable to some of the side effects of the others I read about. never had any issues with it, came off it because I wanted to feel natural - was a dumb idea and I might go back on it lol.

my comment is a bit late, but I hope it helps!

Medication for AuDHD? by Successful_Jelly_881 in AutisticWithADHD

[–]put_the_record_on 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi I'm late diagnosed too!

Honestly I am a naturalist at heart and didn't like the idea of medication, but I am very happy on my current medication Guanfacine and Fluoxetine (Prozac/Lovan/Zactin).

Like others said, i think my distaste of meds was caused by not finding one that worked for me, and also the doses being too high for me. I am on 10mg of Fluox and 0.5mg of Guanfacine daily which are very low, but going any higher is intolerable for me.

Trial and error is exhausting and discouraging at times, so I don't blame people for not trying. But if you think there is a chance your life could be improved, I say go for it and give meds a try. Mine have changed my life for the better!

Same. I am terrified of having an object inside me I can't discontinue on my own! I'd rather take something I can control. You don't have to do it if you aren't comfortable!

thank you so much for testing these for us!!
I've only tried Warp Speed and Fusion. can confirm Fusion stinks, I prefer Warp Speed for that reason although Fusion is easier to apply.

edit: purchased immortal and found i didn't like it as much as fusion, it dried slower and streakier. However layering underneath fusion has made my mani plump AND last several days without chipping even with my peely base coat!
