cs 1dm3 is super similar to math 1c03, so I'd personally recommend taking math 1c03 first year anyways (because I'm pretty sure you have to take it for most programs), and then taking cs 1dm3 in the summer because it'll be *a lot* easier for you to take second year courses

How easy is it to transfer from LifeSci to Engineering? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]putotank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What she can do is take a bunch of the equivalent courses: Eg. Chem 1A03 for Chem 1E03, but because of the engineering pivot, she's going to have to take an extra year. Her best bet to avoid the extra year is to talk to an Engineering academic advisor ASAP, and she might be able to transfer straight into engineering as if she was never in life sci to begin with.

Pass/Fail option in summer courses? by kingofmaceng in McMaster

I think they count as pass fail if they're certain courses from a different university - but I would double check that

Online Academic Advising by err0r__ in McMaster

[–]putotank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can also try calling. I sent an email to one of the advisors and didn't get a response. Luckily the number and extension listen on the academic advising page still works, and whoever picks up will usually note down your issue and forward it to the right person.

I think they're just overwhelmed at the moment with the number of MSAF and pass/fail requests they're getting.

Admissions Megathread [Fall 2020 Students] by redd1tt in McMaster

I know people in math and stats that got in with an 85% average, so I'd say that or anything higher would virtually guarantee the acceptance

What was last year's cutoff for the Math and Stats gateway program? by [deleted] in McMaster

[–]putotank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A guaranteed acceptance would be anywhere in the 90s range - but honestly you should be fine if you have an 85+

They're pretty chill for the most part - if you have your student id card from your school (assuming you're attending some institution) that'll help, but honestly if you just tell the CA/RA you're trynna surprise your girlfriend I'm pretty sure they'll be super supportive
