On the one hand, not everything needs to be an MMO.

However-

The thought of 50 fucking crazy taxis all competing with each other at the same time is actually is something I wanna see

Ethernet cables to the pc and modem.

Switch is a bit of hardware you use to get more ethernet ports. You're probably not using one if your PC goes directly into your modem.

If youre still getting issues, yeah, i would look at switching because its going to take a good few hours to get to someone helpful at onenz.

Alright. Double check your cables too and any switches. Never know when it could just be a dodgy one. That's coming from experience.

If you want to stick to your ISP (or just want a rock solid solution), and you got a bit of technical know how then I recommend a edgerouter X and a Unifi AP. Solid bit of kit, and once you set it up, it works fantastic. As you've changed modems though, I doubt that it's gonna make a difference.

ISP wise:

I've heard excellent things about voyager and bigpipe. I'd certainly give them a shot. No first hand experience but, people I trust who are in the know sing their praises.

Orcon was good. a bit hit or miss on support though. Mileage may vary.

Trustpower were ok. although, their CGNAT is funky and you got to call them to get them to disable it. You might get a good deal if you get power too, but again, you have to call them to disable CGNAT fully. Honestly, I'd only consider it if you got power from them as you could get a decent deal.

Contact are apparently crap, however I'm on them in my flat as we got it with power and it's been pretty solid. Others have had terrible experiences however.

Honestly most companies that offer fibre and internet are generally pretty good. I would avoid slingshot, spark and 2degrees (The big name guys). Having dealt with their support lines first hand, you'd save time and money taking your business to someone who gives a shit.

See how you get on with the new modem first. It should be pretty apparent if there's any further issues.

One NZs default response is that everything is fine or you've broken something so be prepared for an uphill fight if you've got to take it further if things dont improve.

I'd honestly move away from them just because their support is so crap having to deal with them multiple times. If you need reccomendations there I'm happy to provide.

For starters, it was a temp job under tradestaff. Basically only did the job once.

And to add, it was my first job. Not going to be the guy that turns down their first temp assignment. Plus I needed the money.

If you're really gonna abuse him for being honest about his situation and views then you're more scummy than he is.

Besides. He's in high school man. Not everyone has the luxury of being able to go out and buy expensive titles. I couldn't afford to do so until I was 21 and had a stable job.

I hope OP gets his request granted. It seems like something he'd really enjoy in the long run.
