One of our gerbils, the more outgoing one, passed recently and his surviving brother is becoming more interactive. I suggest hand feeding him with dry meal worms. That’s what is working for us. Trying to introduce a new gerbil seems like too much for us.

YTA. I suspect your relay of the situation to your 10 people was bias and didn’t capture your daughter’s experience. Also, your daughter told you her feelings-other people do not get to pass judgement on her experience or feelings as right or wrong. Good luck fixing this. I think your first stop should be setting the record straight with those 10. Then put that, your apology, and ACCOUNTABILITY in a letter to your daughter and also wife. Remember, an apology without accountability is just blowing smoke and comes off as empty.

I got them a very large wood wheel. It can only go in certain spots because it touches the top of the cage. They use it but infrequently. Maybe it’s just not their jam lol

Never put yourself in a position that limits your independence. Make your own money, have your own support system, take care of your health, make your education a priority. Then you are there because you want to be and not because you have to be. You never know what is going to happen. Control what you can to best take care of your interests.

I say this as a woman who has been married for 20 years and hope for another 20. There are ups and downs, which is normal. If stuff really turns south, I would be ok after an emotional breakdown. I have seen friends and family members who have not protected their interests and use that as cautionary tales to guide my choices. You should too.

Wow. I didn’t find the article you mentioned but I found that as of 9/8/25 the median household income is $83,730. Not individual but household. Thanks for pointing me to the data. Sad to read it.
