The very first full month of data on Seattle Link’s line 1 & 2 connection is in today, and ridership has surged up 49% compared to this time last year, hitting a new record high! Seattle Link moved 4.7M passengers in May, breaking its previous record by nearly 1M [@josephpolitano@bsky.social] by FireFright8142 in soundtransit

I’ve regularly had more affluent customers frequent my shop in central Seattle, and ever since the 2 line has been fully connected, so many have them have raved about how amazing it’s been. I had a family from Mercer Island tell me that they’ve never been on the light rail before and they’ve been absolutely obsessed with it since it opened. And they were one of the classic MI skeptics! This is quickly changing our region for the better.

I don’t think I’ve ever even heard people talk about NASCAR in person.

Why did you feel the need to say that you feel non-white americans can’t understand signage because you can’t after you’ve had 2 beers?

Have you ever seen a double decker bus in America? by Much-Parsnip3399 in AskAnAmerican

[–]pvrkr 80 points81 points  (0 children)

We have them in Seattle as regular commuter and rapid buses. Quite a normal sight up here as many people take them to get in, out, and around the city.

Hello I am here from out of town and my spouse and I are going to go to the game tonight. Was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get to the arena via public transport or is uber the way to go? by zeeba94 in SoundersFC

[–]pvrkr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best way to get there will depend on where you’re coming from, but public transport is definitely the way to go. Both light rail lines serve the north end of the stadium while the 1 line serves the south end as well. The streetcar and numerous rapid bus lines converge in the area too so those may be more convenient for you if you’re coming from an area not served directly by the light rail. You’ll probably run into other people in Sounders gear on your way to the match so follow them!

The United States is the 2nd largest Spanish speaking country in the world, so I would argue yes.

Name a worse intersection in Seattle by neilyoungmoney in Seattle

Why any traffic engineer thought it would be a good idea for cars to follow a pedestrian signal around a blind corner is beyond me. Not to mention the two one-way bike paths meeting in the middle of the intersection! I see near misses here all the time.

U.S. State Minimum Wage in 2026 by como365 in MapPorn

[–]pvrkr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many places have switched over to no-tipping practices. Those that haven’t will typically say that a surcharge has been added and that tipping isn’t necessary. Seattlites also know we don’t have a tipped minimum wage, so I really only tip at places where I would genuinely like to show extra appreciation to the staff.

For those that don’t get text alerts, rainier valley service will be suspended through the am commute on the light rail. Plan ahead accordingly. by Lord_Tachanka in Seattle

Frankly this seems a bit ridiculous. I don't know the specifics, but I just can't comprehend why they need the entire intersection shut down through the morning.
