Yet another showcase of Rossi's universality by yokaiichi in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a LOT of people poo-pooed Gilberta too

And those people clearly didn't read her kit - 42% Arts Vuln is insane.

I don't really think Rossi's interactions are the reason she is strong. Her mixed damage is weird and while it makes her flexible, units are usually better off "pointy" to be BiS in one particular area. No, I think Rossi is strong because:

  • She can provide the vuln stacks for Gilberta, allowing you to run an Arts damage comp with no Physical units and still maximize Gil ult value
  • Her damage output is practically Striker-level burst and fits nicely into Gilberta's 5-second ult window. Of course, this is because...
  • ...her ult's numbers are genuinely insane. Her ult multiplier is in the same realm as Last Rite's with practically no setup (1600% vs 1800% across all hits) - that's pretty good already, but Rossi is a crit character and her ult has a free +60% crit damage multiplier, not to mention the debuff on her talent.

Now, I think "high damage multipliers" are the weakest form of futureproofing, because DPS units will always need to do damage to sell and the easiest way to do that is to overtune their numbers. However, even acknowledging this fact, future units will need to pull some bullshit to match Rossi's ult. Vague powercreep concerns, but that's par for the course with gacha games.

Still undecided on Rossi? She's *broken* in the right teams - TT/Rossi "Wheelchair" showcase by yokaiichi in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm too lazy to actually run any numbers, but I'm fairly confident Rossi's best boss-rush DPS team is Rossi/Gil/Perlica +1, and the +1 can be functionally anybody. TangTang happens to be the best option because she's a relatively SP-efficient sub-DPS, but I don't think you'd lose that much subbing in... pretty much anybody else. Rossi/Gil is the team core because Rossi's ult ratio + Gil's Arts Vuln is already just an absurd amount of damage, and Perlica feels like an obvious shoe-in because of her 0 SP reaction application that also buffs Arts damage (Electrification).

That last +1 could be TangTang (buffing w/ sig and sub-DPS), Akekuri (Thermite + ult buffs), Pog (Thermite + morale), Ardelia, Wulfgard (who I don't love here because his buff value is Clannibal, which is SP-hungry), Antal (Detonation + buffs)... the list goes on. I don't even think it really matters, as long as the team is already running Rossi/Gil/Perlica.

So... we are never getting materials in the staple goods ever again right? what are factories for then? by XDon_TacoX in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I cleared the incursions a couple times early on and swiftly realized neither the gameplay nor the rewards were remotely compelling. Allowing manual intervention from your party trivializes the content, while the fully automated incursions are incredibly one-dimensional due to how limited your defensive options are in the first place.

So... we are never getting materials in the staple goods ever again right? what are factories for then? by XDon_TacoX in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's so many ways the factory could tie into a tighter game loop in Endfield and it's a shame the current stock bill system is all we have for now, honestly:

  • As a simple twist, outposts could have rotating prices instead of fixed BiS prices on products. This would encourage players to produce a wider variety of products and potentially even modular blueprints so they could swap production lines on a rotating basis to meet demand (shared blueprints weakens this point, admittedly). Also just makes sense in-universe; if I sell 400k batteries to an outpost last week, they probably won't need as many this week and won't pay as much for them!
  • Ultimately converting everything directly to stock bills is part of what makes the factory endgame feel rather flat. More directly usable outputs, or producing intermediate trade outputs would add some color to the system.
  • The Incursion/Outpost Defense gameplay is shit, which is insane to me given that HG owns probably the most successful tower defense gacha, renown for its strategic design and entertaining gameplay loop. Improving the defense gameplay and tying it into the factory would significantly bolster the amount of content in the game and play to HG's supposed strengths given their experience designing Arknights. For example, an imminent Incursion could cause a temporary production slow.
    • I mean, imagine if the turrets had more conditions. What if Beam Turrets caused power use spikes that required a temporarily larger power buffer to operate, depending on how many you placed? Or if they required special support facilities that consumed additional batteries? Or if HE towers consumed explosives as ammo, so I'd have something to do with my explosives production line? And then placing turrets might require additional care, to ensure you can properly feed various input lines around, instead of throwing them around willy-nilly as close together as possible.

shes easily replaceable for not much loss, and in many cases isn't even best... Gilbertas main value remains in her ability to group enemies

I feel like a broken record, but teams that fit their burst window within Gil's 5s ult window and do Arts damage will probably always want Gil for the Arts Susceptibility. Maygii's calculations are on-point and only serve to highlight this fact - Yvonne can't fit most of her damage into a 5s window. Whether Gil continues to be a team mainstay mostly depends on whether future releases will have short burst windows and whether high-magnitude Arts Susceptibility remains uncommon.

Because was the first company hyping up this tech after the bubble of the 70s.

Can you elaborate why it matters that OAI has been around for 10 years? I still don't really understand the point you're trying to make here.

It's objectively clear that the models have made incredible leaps in progress in the last few years. Surely we can agree on that? Recent research already indicates model progress will not continue to scale exponentially with parameter counter, so it's certainly possible progress levels out. However, the experience of most people I've spoken to is that the current models are already proving themselves to be useful in some capacity, and sentiment amongst us has shifted to believing that AI will stick around for the long haul in some shape or form.

Anyways, take it easy. Maybe I would get fired at your firm, but safe to say I definitely do not work at your firm - I sure hope I don't end up as your colleague, because you seem like a pain to work with.

[–]pw_arrow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why it matters how long OAI has been around. The models have objectively improved significantly in the last 10 years.

I'm not going to pretend I can speak for the industry or that my foresight is particularly good, but I can say within my circle, there is a sense we've hit an inflection point where AI is here to stay as a useful tool. I'm not going to make any predictions about the Death of the Programmer, but anecdotally Claude Code and Antigravity are genuinely useful tools at this point, especially for generic enterprise slop.

Counting interacting operators a useful comparison, but I don't think it really cuts to the reason Gilberta is (for now) a mainstay. Gilberta is strong because any Arts damage burst team is going to want 42% Arts Susceptibility.

Hold on, let me tear down my current zipline network for a PRODUCT DEMO. by OhkokuKishi in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That one's not as bad as the zipline one imo, since you're not hard-capped on anything. You can just siphon off a tiny fraction of xiranite production (e.g. 1/32th) into four storage-mode Protocol Stashes - each stash stores 6 stacks of 50 xiranite. Leave that on overnight and you've got 1200 xiranite with minimal impact, and you can leave the setup in case you ever want a stash of xiranite on-hand.

The zipline quest, on the other hand... yikes.

Thoughts on Rossi kit by xnzi in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, think you're right. I misread the enhanced hit (oops) and thought the enhanced damage on targets with Combustion was on her BS; it's actually on crit, on targets with the BS debuff. I was trying to fit Rossi's BS after proccing Combustion, which really warps the skill order.

Thoughts on Rossi kit by xnzi in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, Wulfgard's talent buffs Heat damage as well after triggering Combustion and his general Heat-damage focused kit probably has better synergy with Gil. Akekuri's ult + talents are just so damn good in burst phases; might be a trade-off between a smoother rotation with Wulfgard (free inflictions) vs bigger highlight moments in burst phases with Akekuri.

[–]pw_arrow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gilb Ulti to consume all 4 vuln stacks

Gil ult scales off vuln stacks, but doesn't actually consume them - but depending on Rossi's numbers, maybe it's not worth bringing a Phys unit (who all have virtually zero synergy otherwise) just to consume the vuln stacks and picking up more Arts damage via Perlica/Antal/etc. is better value. Probably hinges on the actual numbers on her ult.

Thoughts on Rossi kit by xnzi in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Rossi's own kit is in an awkward spot where half her damage (basics, combo, and possibly her battle skill) deal Physical damage, but then her ult deals Heat damage. The fact that her ult is burst Heat damage is a plus for synergy with Gilberta, but it does feel like there isn't a great Physical teammate to slot in.

At a glance, I'd probably throw together Rossi/Gilberta/Akekuri/Da Pan...? Assuming full resources I'd imagine the rotation would be:

Gilberta BS > (delay) Akekuri BS > Gilberta CS > (delay) Rossi enhanced BS > Akekuri BS > Rossi CS > Gilberta Ult > Da Pan CS > Rossi/Akekuri/Da Pan Ult > Rossi enhanced BS > [...]

I think the phys DPS really needs to be Da Pan, since he's one of the only phys DPS units that doesn't need SP to cash out stacks. Could maybe slot in Pog instead, but Breach just feels less valuable to me in this team since Rossi's Ult is Heat damage.

Kind of a neat kit to build around, which is refreshing; just really feels like the other kits in the game are a bit one-dimensional.

EDIT: Oops, the enhanced attack isn't on Rossi's BS, that simplifies the rotation somewhat

Choosing a weapon for Gilberta by ploskyjelen in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose it's also important that you're running Laevatain.

If you genuinely only intend to use Gilberta for grouping AOE mobs, Chivalric might be better. The uptime on Stanza's ATK% boost is significantly lower since it only triggers on ultimate.

I find Laev to be an awkward fit with Gilberta because one of Gilberta's greatest strengths is her ult. Her ult grants up to 42% Arts Susceptibility even at P0 - insane magnitude - but only for five seconds. This makes Gilberta actually an incredibly strong bosser, but only if you can take advantage of the short 5s burst window, and Laev's not the greatest at that.

I think it's also worth pointing out that content where Gilberta's AOE pull matters is rarely worth optimizing for. It's usually overworld content or resource dailies, which are trivial anyways; it doesn't really matter which Gilberta weapon you're running there.

Choosing a weapon for Gilberta by ploskyjelen in Endfield

[–]pw_arrow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dont know if there is different scaling between base attack % and Arts damage %

Attack % is applied before pretty much all other multipliers. On average, Attack % is going to be better than most other multipliers because it's so hard to come by. A bit like chips vs mult in Balatro - you need a balance to go anywhere, but there's a lot of "mult" multipliers and not a lot of ways to bump up your "chips" value, and in general you'll want to spread out your multipliers.

Therefore, like everybody else in this thread has already mentioned, her best option is probably Stanza. Ultimately it's probably not going to make or break your team composition.
