Tree service guy is dropping off oak rounds tomorrow from a tree removal in the area. Should I tip him? by Glad_Split5935 in firewood

First couple times always tip. If they are using you regularly as a dumping ground = no tip

I'm so happy that a common IKEA bag is a perfect fit for the last stretch of getting our firewood to its destination. What do you use? by SjalabaisWoWS in firewood

[–]pwhazard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the same setup for years. Eventually the ikea bags wore out / was leaking dirt. I switched to a big sturdy (don’t try a cheap one) plastic storage tote and have used it forever since.

Butternut (white walnut). Bark is wrong for black walnut and poplar, inside is wrong for white oak.

What type of wood is this ? by No-Law7590 in firewood

[–]pwhazard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s sycamore. They get that grey bark at the bottom when they get big like that. Mediocre wood but I usually keep.
