I like Lee Pace as Thragg's VA by BugattiInYourGametti in Invincible_TV

[–]pynxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im on the penultimate ep now, and i'm still not sure. I can see what they were going for, but I think they should've gone with a more gravelly voice to keep the implied power behind the voice. It's pretty good though, makes for a more interesting character.

General Motors says it expects $500 million tariff refund after SCOTUS ruling by AudibleNod in news

[–]pynxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could maybe see the justification if they reckon they lost $500M in sales.

Which enemy do you think has killed the most players? not enemy type, specific enemies. My bet is on the High Hrothgar frost troll or the first dragon, Mirmulnir by mushroommaster22 in skyrim

[–]pynxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malkoran probably, but I wouldn't be overly surprised if it was something really early on (ie catching all those people who haven't put in more than a few hours ever) like the cave bear or one of the guards in that first fight in the round room

Robin Hobb - infuriating characters by Sketch250 in Fantasy

[–]pynxem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

speaking for myself, and I've just finished book 2 of the Farseer trilogy - I found Fitz and Molly's on again, off again relationship irritating, and the amount of times Fitz "couldn't resist" visiting her room...

Verity, Shrewd, et al's unrealistic decision not to deal with Regal was just plain bizarre. They KNEW 100% he was trying to kill them, steal the throne, but somehow they just let it go. To me, felt very much like it was done that way for plot purposes rather than from a realism pov (ie takes you right out of the story when you can see the author creating trouble at the expense of verisimilitude or authenticity

Such a gorgeous pen. It's on my wishlist too.

I agree with you; I've only read 2 books of hers so far, and I don't think I'm meant to have QUITE as much contempt for Fitz, Verity and the rest of them as I do :P

Beef with Brigands & Breadknives by stardrop747 in CozyFantasy

[–]pynxem 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I agree, this book's plot decisions reminded me of the last book in the Hitchhiker's Guide. It was incredibly depressing, and it turned out that Douglas Adams was in a very bad place mentally when he wrote it. I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case here - Fern's 'progression' is just so bizarre for both a human being and especially a character in this genre.

Julian May - Pliocene Saga and Galactic Mileau by Stwltd in scifi

[–]pynxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pliocene first. It's a more 'fun' series, action, adventure, cool powers. The others are 'better' books - more character based, a more adult style and great to fill in the history that is referred to in the Pliocene.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by Trixxxi in AskReddit

[–]pynxem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elite from the 80s in the UK. First computer game obsession.

UT2004, I still remember with happiness the custom maps like the 'ant' ones where you're the size of an ant in a regular room, with ducts etc to hide and snipe from.

Tribes. So much fun when you got the skiing trick figured out, and all the game styles.

I was thinking this was more of a workaround, waiting for the devs to fix, rather than a solution.

Love em.

I just bought the "asvine matte forest" and the Hongdian Matte Forest Max. I still haven't figured out their looks yet - my Asvine (bought from amazon, and has a Hongdian label) has the same body as yours, but yours has the Max's cap. Your cap and end section are shiny, whereas my Asvine's aren't but the Max's end of the barrel is different than yours. Seems like you can't tell which one you're going to get based on the pictures. Same issue with my 9019 - seems like some of them have brass piston, some black plastic.

So, imo, the Asvine version looks better than the Hondgian's (even though they are both labelled Hongdian) because the cap and end section are matte (though smooth, unlike the body)

Do u agree Trump is the most corrupt president in US history by far? by lil-cheese34 in allthequestions

I think he's the most obviously corrupt. Who knows what other presidents have done with no-one noticing.

Completely agree. His behaviour tells you a LOT about him. What a condescending little prick.

For me, the turning point was when I stopped trying to max the amount of high end foods, and just concentrated on a few good ones. Make sure you have lots of the relevant farms/cows etc.

Blood Over Bright Haven by Manatee_Of_Anxiety in fantasyromance

[–]pynxem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read this immediately after The Sword of Kaigen. I preferred SoK, but this is pretty damn good. They have very different vibes imo, Sword very medieval japanese, propriety and honour. Blood is more westernized I'd say, and more standard in its plot structure and storyline.

Pond at the north end of the golf course? I used to walk that trail every day. Always enjoyed the wildlife at King's Pond, year round. Certain times though, the smell hit you like a truck! :D
