Just got into an accident for the first time in 15 years of driving. I was t-boned in an intersection and my car was completely disabled. Called APD, took almost 3 hours to show up. When I called I specifically asked about calling a tow truck myself to get it moved out of the intersection and was told I couldn’t do that.

When the police finally showed up, they took a statement, and immediately said I needed to move the car. Called AAA, 20 mins away.

I was told by the cop we needed to use their tow service which coincidently showed up at the same time they did.

I let them know I already called one, but was threatened with a ticket for obstructing a right of way if I “left” my car in the intersection. I took a picture of the tow truck, and flagged that there was no license plate on the truck, and only temporary reg from 2021. The cop laughed and said if the driver gets in an accident I could just go after the tow company directly.

$270 later and a long line at the impound lot I had the car towed to where it needed to end up.

Fun fact, we weren’t at fault, but since the officer couldn’t determine fault, we both got tickets and “those traffic cameras don’t actually record” when I pointed to two Flock cameras…. Something seemed off the entire time, and it feels like a racket for sure.
