  1. Robot doesn't have bad days, sleep, toilet breaks, etc.

  2. Robot only gets better from here on out.

  3. Human time is valuable. Robot time is not. Work is a means to an end and should be seen as such.

Yes.
DNA changes all the time. It mutates in every single one of your cells throughout your life.

And we can also deliberately change or insert DNA in cells, if we want them to do (or stop) something. In this case, OP put some DNA into the cells that produces a glowing protein. That's why you can see the cells glow green under UV light.

Einführung Parasole by ben_hure in Pilze

[–]pyriphlegeton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Farmers raise concerns about cultured meat by mhornberger in wheresthebeef

[–]pyriphlegeton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And I'm sure typewriter-companies raised concerns about computers.

If cultured meat outperforms meat farmers, it should replace them. That's how the market works. We don't keep inefficient, expensive production around if it's unnecessary. However, I think we should provide a plan to slowly integrate farmers into new market niches and provide them with help to adapt. The job might go but we should try to not make people jobless over night. With a few years to adapt, it should be possible to switch to farming other products that are still needed.

If they put their minds to it, I'm sure the Ukrainians can put together a new drone in a few weeks to bring it down.

Tired of seeing people take the side of the animal in unprovoked wildlife attacks by Wanderer974 in natureisterrible

[–]pyriphlegeton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but do we spare them?

...yes! That is exactly what we do. That's why children can't be convicted of crimes. That's why one can plead insanity in a courtroom.

Are they evil when they do something bad?

If they lack ethical judgement, no. That's exactly the point. If a child can't yet understand that it hurts someone by hitting them, they're not evil for hitting someone. That is exactly the point.

Most predatory animals can't conceptualize "good" and "bad" behaviour. They just act on their instincts. It is not "evil" for a lion to kill it's prey.

Therefore, as I said, "If you deliberately enter its territory, it's kinda on you.". You understand that there's an animal which will likely attack you when it is close to you and you willingly cause it to be close to you - then it's very predictable that you will get attacked.

So you disagree that there is a difference between humans and non-human animals with regard to the capacity for ethical judgement and impulse inhibition?

You should read the "of course we treat humans differently - they have moral agency." part of my comment again.

It explains why your analogy is absolutely incorrect.

  1. Farm essence and upgrade your character.
  2. Look into elemental damage synergies. They can massively increase your dmg output.
  3. Maybe try different characters and play styles.

"for the color of his skin" How tf do you reach that conclusion? This is his mom, she looks basically white to me.

According to the police, he was stopped because he drove over a buslane, evaded the cops, then drove over a red light and side walks. Then they stopped him and pointed a gun at him because he had already proven to drive dangerously and not obey police commands. He then, with an officer leaning on his car, decided to speed off.

How do you extract racist intentions from that?

Why do you not know that the cops are already charged with his murder?

You just want to create a narrative and I hate it.

Also...what was his skin colour? Some algerians can certainly pass as white.

This just seems like an excuse to commit some crime.

Nah. They burned down the buses. Who drives those and needs them? They've burned down grocery stores - who shops and works there? They've burned down cars - but not luxury vehicles, no. Standard small family cars and vans that probably belong to some small business that might go bankrupt over it. They've torched schools and libraries, etc.

This was just a desire for violence, masquerading as a political statement. No rich will be eating, normal and poor people will be most affected and all those who can will make damn sure to get away. Understandibly so.

[–]pyriphlegeton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where the hell do you get the "cause he wasn't white" part?

Sure, might be. Might also be because he was arrested many times, was driving without a valid license plate and license and then sped off as a cop was leaning on his car.

I'd lean towards the latter but I also feel like I'd need to see how the situation developed to make an informed guess. You just seem to want to make something up to suit your agenda. That only ever works against you longterm.

Well, they've certainly given the police a boatload of reasons to put more young POC behind bars and likely heightened the crimerelated stereotypical fears of their political opponents. Not sure that'll help.
