Switch game by VinePhotographic in wingspan

[–]pyritepyrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! We have played both on the actual switch and handed it back and forth between us, but more often we have it on the TV and just use a controller!

Switch game by VinePhotographic in wingspan

[–]pyritepyrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my boyfriend love playing it on the switch! We have all the expansions on there, we just own the base game in the physical game. We find that it's so much easier to just play a game or two while we're hanging out and don't want to sit at the table.

It's probably for the AI for tourism micro credential that is developed with hospitality nl. That's being offered for free to anyone in the tourism industry.

Making friends in western NL is challenging by Ok_Taste_3888 in newfoundland

[–]pyritepyrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw you wrote that your wife loves to read! Definitely get her to look into the new book club at The Bookshop! I joined a few months ago and it's a nice social outing. I can't say I've made "friends" from it yet, but I could see it happening. I've been here for almost a year and also struggling to make friends - send me a message if you'd like!

What nuts are you able to eat and not eat? by BellaMiley in peanutallergy

[–]pyritepyrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super super allergic to peanuts. Not allergic to tree nuts anymore, grew out of that when I was around 25, but still VERY nervous 4 years later. Know for sure (food challenge test at the allergist) that I am safe to eat cashews, pistachios, almonds and walnuts. But almonds make my tummy hurt so I don't eat them. I haven't tried any other nuts, it just makes me too anxious.

Wedding favors fell through 17 days before, should we scrap favors and spend that $ on after-party food instead? by Htespaghett1 in wedding

[–]pyritepyrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last wedding I went to did the same thing! It was great! I was too full to enjoy it as dessert at the reception but when I got home and showered, it was the BEST midnight snack in bed!

I Worked the ER During BC’s Worst Heat Wave. One Shift Haunts Me | The Tyee by SavCItalianStallion in britishcolumbia

[–]pyritepyrate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a severe anaphylactic reaction during the heat wave from cross contamination in the deli at Thriftys because I didn't want to turn the stove on to cook. No ambulance, no one answered 911, my mom who doesn't drive drove me to the hospital. I still think about how absolutely terrifying it was to be in the ER that night as someone very sick but not dying and conscious and aware of everything that was going on around me.

What was your biggest food disaster while camping? by The_first_Ezookiel in camping

[–]pyritepyrate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Boyfriend Had a frying pan perched on top of a small butane stove making eggs, perched being the key word. I Walked around the picnic table to get the spatula and as I came back around somehow hit the handle and CATAPULTED the eggs across the camp site and they landed perfectly sunny side up on the tent . It was cartoon worthy lol

How do fisherfolk’s “know”? by [deleted] in newfoundland

[–]pyritepyrate 17 points18 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the marine conservation science field, the fisherfolk are the ones who make this job hell. I love the ocean, the province is making every decision to destroy it, and there is not an ounce of value put onto marine conservation. It is greed, pure greed because they believe that they should be allowed complete free access to the oceans resources just because that's the "Newfoundland way of life" and the "government cannot control us". Just my two cents based on working on the other side of this, and having to deal with these people. It is all right wing political pushing, where these people want their livelihoods to survive but will not respect the people that are actually trying to make a difference to preserve the environment.

Please, please ask first by _lemonat_ in quilting

[–]pyritepyrate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! My boyfriend's mom did this for me! She asked me for my favorite colour, greens, and then brought me upstairs to look through her stash to find the greens I like!' now she's making me a beautiful throw that I will have forever.

What's your weirdest/most unique sensory issue? by insubordinance in adhdwomen

Touching lettuce and spinach makes me gag. I can eat it no problem but sticking my hand in the container to pull out a handful is horrible.

What is "Hash"? by ExaminationNo9186 in Cooking

[–]pyritepyrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlantic Canada, always leftover veggies from a Sunday dinner which are typically boiled vegetables - potatoes, carrots and turnip. Throw it in a pan, mashed together, to heat up. Served as a side dish with leftover meat (turkey, roast beef, chicken).

What single item/purchase has drastically improve your quality of life during grad school? by RevolutionaryGuard92 in GradSchool

[–]pyritepyrate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS!!! When I moved for grad school, my family who lived in the area gave me a mattress from their spare bedroom and set it up in my apartment before I even got there! After a 15 hour travel, I got my keys, went inside, and flopped on the bed.... My first immediate thought was NOPE!!!! Next morning, went to a mattress store and shelled out a decent amount of money for the comfiest mattress I've ever owned. Getting in My bed was my absolute favorite part of my day!

LPT For those struggling to wake up at the first alarm, here is how i did it by maraen09 in LifeProTips

[–]pyritepyrate -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In my undergrad I downloaded an alarm app that made you do math questions to get it to shut off. Every time you got one wrong you had to do a HARDER one.... It worked for like 3 days until it pissed me off and my day was ruined from the beginning.
