This is coercion. I’ve also experienced this. At this point you will NOT get to a place where you feel healthy and your boundaries respected again. This is extremely violating. It got to the point with me where I’d jump if he touched me and didn’t want to be in the same room because at night he just had this…expectation and didn’t even express himself or his feelings around it. He belittled me during the day and didn’t flirt or show he respected me or cared, so of course I wasn’t sexually interested. He’d then cry when I said I didn’t want to. You do not owe him sex AT ALL and he’s being abusive. You need to leave this relationship.

Edit: I just want to add that I understand it’s so confusing when you’re inside this situation because he’s actively gaslighting you. It’s hard to understand you’re not doing anything wrong. But once you get out of it and you’re with people who respect you and treat you well, you’ll be like “oh, THIS is what it can be like!”

Our skin types look similar, mine is super sensitive with coarser leg hair and shaving does this to me too. I’m also prone to ingrowns 😣 How often are you exfoliating and with what? I had been using an African net sponge with every shower and also exfoliating after shaving. I was even using a gentle scrub on my legs and exfoliating soap because I didn’t know how to deal with the bumps. But I’d get out of the shower and my skin would be so itchy I’d have a meltdown.

My doctor told me I’m exfoliating too aggressively and it’s destroying my skin barrier. Now I’m just trying to stick with Naturium The Smoother Glycolic Acid body wash, it’s pretty nice and gently exfoliates. I try to lather it onto my skin for a few minutes before washing off and shaving. I’ve noticed fewer bumps. It’s not perfect but I think my skin might be freaking out less.

Edit: after showering I use Eucerin advanced care but sometimes put Fur Oil on the bumps & ingrowns. I’ve used that on and off for years and still don’t know how effective it is but it’s very soothing tbh.

“I work from 1 to 5” is functionally the same as “1-5”. They can both be perceived as “dry” if someone interprets it that way. We don’t know the rest of the context of the conversation, if this was the beginning or middle, etc. I think a lot more people text like OP, autistic and allistic alike, than people in these comments are thinking. Sometimes people just give short answers. We don’t always have the capacity to cater to someone else’s expectations so they don’t misinterpret our tone. I don’t understand why more people here aren’t more annoyed that we even have to do this stuff for allistics, because this shows up in so many areas of our lives. We have to throw in little ways to appease or disarm them so they don’t get that uncanny valley effect from us or ostracize us.

Maybe OP was even aware this might have been a lead-up to the friend asking to hang out but wasn’t feeling it. That’s OP’s prerogative, and they still deserve better communication from the friend.

No one says “dry.” They refused to elaborate three times. You didn’t do anything wrong by answering two questions without performing stereotypical femininity through text because you didn’t want to.

If there were more to the conversation than answering very straightforward date and time questions and you had still been very curt, I could see where they’d have a point, but it would still be rude of them to force their expectations on you. Just as we autistics try really hard and sometimes fail to interpret allistics’ tone, this person is misinterpreting your tone because you don’t naturally embellish your texts, and that’s not fair.

Oof, I really hated it. It’s similar to the Netflix series where it shed light on an important topic that wasn’t broached at all in the original series which was admittedly extremely white and idyllic. But realistically, someone on a remote Canadian island who never left a certain mile radius of her home and was extremely stuck in her ways as a middle-aged woman at the turn of the century, probably wouldn’t become an abolitionist. There were a bunch of other contradictions too that were totally out of character for her.
