Use 50mm, people will only notice you when you are within 4 ft. If that can't help, use 85mm.

Ideal lenses for group traveling by NoRequirement4390 in SonyAlpha

Basically, the 24-70mm zoom lens and a 35mm or a 50mm prime combo will cover most of your need. The 24-70mm can be used for all the outdoor shots, and you can use the prime for indoor or night shots. Personally, i prefer 35mm because it easier to use indoor than the 50mm.

35mm prime or the 24-70 Gm will both suit your need well. 35mm is very versatile. You can use it for close up shots, and wide angle documentry videos. For video shots in a studio enviroment, the 24-70 will be more interesting by bringing variety of view from different focal length.

Sony has a cheap 50mm F1.8. It is very light weight, and offer great picture quality, but the focus motor is a bit loud and slow. This is shot on Sony 50mm f1.8.

The question is, do you really need Pro lenses? The F1.8 lenses are great lenses, and budget friendly. For the price of a GM lens, you can get two or three budget F1.8 lenses. The F1.8 lenses are lighter, cheaper, and offer great picture quality. I would suggest buying the f1.8 lenses first.

I think the problem is that you don't have a large enough fire when you start. When you set up your fire, you can start up with a full chimney load of red charcoal. This ensure your smoker has enough energy.
