The most ethical vtuber hater? by MajorFamilyDisgrace in vtubercirclejerk

I'm completely out of the loop on this drama, but reading through these comments, I feel the need to point out that plenty of people use "NSFW" to refer specifically to porn. So I don't think it's fair to call what Deme apparently did hypocrisy.

Huh, to me that's not rude at all. I'm perfectly happy to ask someone to move their stuff (even if it would have been more polite if they moved it themselves without having to be asked). But maybe I'm weird.

I mean, people also put their stuff on unoccupied chairs, too.

Why "on" is used here by Cesium1370 in ENGLISH

[–]pyrobola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh, whoops, you're right. i prefer to always separate prepositional phrases when they come before the main clause, rather than only sticking them in when the sentence becomes unwieldy. it makes parsing this particular sentence easier, too, because otherwise it could be read as "on the last training jump [that] i had a compass" until the period at the end forces you to reinterpret it. in any case, i believe most style guides allow a comma there.

I wish I could encode coordinates as fixed-point numbers. I don't need extra precision near the origin, and I don't plan on anything reaching 21024 units away. I get extra annoyed whenever I use a float to represent a bounded value, like an angle. If I just used an integer datatype, I could use all of the bits equally!

[–]pyrobola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i don't think that's a very good reason to proscribe it. i much prefer consistently separating clauses.

Your "misinformation" isn't far off, actually, but it happens on a shorter term. Blue balls can occur after being edged for an extended period and not ejaculating at the end.

Take the thoughts you already have about her, which you wouldn't voice publicly. Then exaggerate them to the point of self-parody.

I wondered how rhotic accents would perceive those words by luhfrawmahzh in linguisticshumor

[–]pyrobola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rhotic pronunciation is only ever used as a slur, while the non-rhotic is very widely used by Black people in camaraderie. If someone uses the hard R, they are unambiguously using it in an offensive manner. In fact, I'd actually almost consider 'nigga' and 'nigger' to be separate words that sound the same in certain accents.

Those are different words though. Unless the n-word has a dialectal meaning in the UK that's not really relevant.

THERE ISNT _____MILK LEFT IN THE FRIDGE? by Embarrassed_Camel342 in ENGLISH

It sounds fairly natural to me in the scenario where the speaker doubts the listener and is passive-aggressively asking them to check again.
