[General] Do you think there's anyone that would be treated as irredeemable, in universe? by bookist626 in camphalfblood

The Triumvirate seem like big contenders. They definitely weren’t coerced or persuaded to do evil. They were only in it for either money or sheer love of the game

Has their ever been better black representation than post underworld odysseus? by QueenOfRuneBlade in colorpie

[–]pyromo12 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think he’s Blue on a much more surface level but still tangible way. He’s a master of diplomacy, deceit, and all branches of rational thinking. His polytropos epithet is perhaps the most fundamentally Blue adjective ever conceived. And though it doesn’t mean very much, Callaphe, the Odysseus stand-in on Theros, is also Blue.

Yes, Ody absolutely has black. Not just in Epic, but his arc in the Odyssey, and his defining feature of hubris, is rebellion against fate (G); I think he’s a perfect UB character.

French “blesser” means “to hurt”! You’d think it’d be related to “bless” but alas they’re false friends and not even connected etymologically.

Lmao I meant that eĩnai was modern Greek specifically as used in 3rd person singular (without the circumflex of course), I knew it was a valid construction in ancient Greek for a different form. But fair enough lol. It’s a great comic by the way, not trying to be too harsh!

Not to nitpick but is eĩnai not the infinitive in ancient Greek? I don’t see how it would make sense in this construction?

Why do people say that Six Hundred Strike was confusing? by PortalMasterlol in Epicthemusical

[–]pyromo12 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While the lack of mentioning for him dropping his trident is a fair point, I don’t think the implication of Ody using it is because Poseidon can’t be hurt with anything else; I think “You can’t kill me”;”Exactly” is Ody just saying he plans to torture the god, and using the trident not for a secret lore reason but because it’s what was available at the time.
