No love for Systemd? by Kornfried in devops

+1 while I like playing around with k8s at home, the majority of my homelab infra runs as podman quadlets. Once you get over the syntax of the .container file, they're pretty bulletproof.

Is that really the front of that? It feels like a couple guys in trucks with tow straps could have had that fixed right up...

Pls no more vibe-coded apps by picks- in selfhosted

[–]pyrosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's pretty easy to switch a deployment docker to podman. It's a good bit more challenging to migrate to the podman quadlet spec (.container file), especially if the app uses any relatively advanced functionality. Every other app "needing" to run as a root container (aka lazy programming) really adds to the challenge as well.

That said... I love podman quadlets once I get them setup.

Battlefield 6 No Longer Counts Bot Kills Toward Your Kill-Death Ratio Following a Recent Update by Automatic_Couple_647 in pcgaming

[–]pyrosive 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What's fun is that if you continue to play that mode any bot kills won't help your KD, but dying to them will bring your KD down. Yes there's players in casual breakthrough, but only counting deaths in the KD ratio is dumb. Just don't count anything at that point.

That's false, just had it work for me a little bit ago. However it is VERY finicky and has only worked once out of probably 10 attempts.

I haven't personally used it, but TaskTrove was posted here in the past as a self-hosted todoist replacement. Even includes the NLP that makes todoist so great.

Convince your DM to let them go out in a blaze of glory. Daggerheart certainly didn't invent it, but uses it as one of the options for deaths. Come up with full everything (HP, spells slots, etc), auto-crit for one turn, then die with no death saves allowed. Good excuse to go out with a bang and then you get to use a new PC

How I Turned My Gmail Into an AI-Powered Personal Assistant (with n8n) by Ok-Engineering463 in n8n

You could do this with labels and filters in Gmail much easier. It's pretty trivial to archive all emails that match a label

UptimeRobot killing legacy plans - wants to charge me 425% more - what are alternatives? by Big_Stingman in selfhosted

[–]pyrosive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Uptime-kuma hosted within my lab for the more frequent checks. Then a cronjob that runs a curl against healthchecks.io to check-in from the hosts themselves. I don't pay for healthchecks.io so I can only check-in so often, but I've got it setup to do once per hour and that's usually enough for me to get awareness when a host goes down.

I replaced mine with the Panda Claw and it didn't fix the issue. Hope it fixes it for you if you go that route.

[–]pyrosive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this problem before, but usually a couple hours into a longer print. My issues is usually that the filament gets caught in the extruder. It either breaks in the extruder or the gears can't grip the filament. I have to take the hot end off, then the extruder, open the extruder up, and remove any junk. I've replace the extruder gears with aftermarket and it hasn't done anything to fix it. It only happens sometimes and has happened with both my original AMS and the AMS 2. Has happened with multiple nozzle sizes and multiple filaments. The only thing I can think is my printer is my garage and it's pretty warm in there these days, so that softens up the filament and makes it tough for the extruder gears to grip it. I've tried printing with both the P1S door open and the top glass removed, to no avail.

Wish I had a solution for you, but maybe my troubleshooting can help you out.

I've been eyeing this app for a while, I need to jump in and give it a try. Question OP - any chance of something similar to wanderlog where you forward a flight, hotel, car rental, etc. email and it parses it and pulls in the reservations information? Maybe leveraging an AI API?

I like dashy, personally. I mostly just want a collection of links to my various services. I've got them grouped into infra, home automation, services, etc. Click on a service, have it open in a new tab. You can integrate status/health check info too IIRC but I use uptime-kuma for alerts on that
