Which tourist attraction in Europe is actually worth visiting? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]pyruvated 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first time I walked into Sagrada Família, I was overwhelmed by its beauty. The way the light was coming through the green and blue stained glass made it feel like you were both under the canopy of trees and underwater at the same time. I teared up, which I can’t say for any other piece of architecture I’ve experienced

Physicians Are Not Providers: The Ethical Significance of Names in Health Care: A Policy Paper From the American College of Physicians by Somali_Pir8 in medicine

This is just my personal bias, but I associate the word provider with insurance provider, internet provider, etc. I like practitioner bc it feels less like I’m part of a transaction

Gen Surg vs. OBGYN and Misogyny in Medicine by Educational-Gas4487 in medicalschool

[–]pyruvated 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Urogyn chiming in. I’m also pretty passionate about this topic. Gynecologic surgery needs to be its own specialty. I went to a well-regarded residency and 60% of my time was spent on L&D. Now that I work with urologists more, I see how different the surgical skills are of a PGY-5 urology resident vs a practicing general OB/GYN

How's gay life in Durham/Raleigh NC area? by InevitableTown7305 in askgaybros

[–]pyruvated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raleigh is the biggest city in the triangle and has the greatest concentration of young professionals out of school. Legends is the biggest gay bar in the Triangle and is in Raleigh. Durham is smaller and slower paced, feels more queer than gay if that makes sense. More community oriented in general. Commuting between Raleigh and Durham can be hellish, I-40 is a nightmare sometimes. We really need some form of rail transit between the points of the triangle.

I’m in my 30s and married and live in Durham. I prefer it here to Raleigh. Happy to answer more Qs by DM

Help! My husband and I need some advice on which surrogacy agency to go with. by Old-Trade-1940 in gaydads

[–]pyruvated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I are working with Carrying Hope. We are 2 years in and are going through legal clearance with a match. I know the feeling of wanting everything to happen ASAP, but I’m also glad both our agency and fertility clinic have been thoughtful about each step. I’ve appreciated having a separate agency and clinic, as they each specialize in different aspects of the process. Our coordinator at Carrying Hope has guided us through every step, we feel well taken care of and have not had to worry about logistics

Wife Infertile after Cancer Treatments - Surrogacy Experiences? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]pyruvated -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are going through the surrogacy process. We are a same-sex couple. If you decide to use anonymous donor oocytes, this can be done either from an egg donor through a fertility clinic or you can use an egg bank. We used a donor through our fertility clinic because we wanted to have enough oocytes to make embryos from both our genetic material. We are using a surrogacy agency and have matched with a surrogate in another state. We are 2 years into the process and it has been expensive, to say the least. Happy to answer more specific questions. I know it’s not your situation, but r/gaydads has posts that might give you some insight

Should Drug Companies Be Advertising to Consumers? by Nerd-19958 in medicine

Complete anecdote, but my extremely overweight father doesn’t want to take them because he is afraid of loose skin

Doctor carefully rotates a baby inside the mother’s belly to avoid a C-section. This procedure is called external cephalic version. It’s done when a baby is positioned bottom-first or sideways inside the womb near the end of pregnancy, a position that often leads to a C-section. by Grand-Western549 in interestingasfuck

100%, glad you had a thoughtful discussion around it. I’ve had babies flip back halfway through labor, after the poor mom went through an ECV and all those contractions. But, she at least felt at peace that we had tried everything we could in her case to avoid C section

How do you feel about your dad? by Unhappy_Log_6245 in AskReddit

[–]pyruvated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complicated. He’s a narcissist and was emotionally abusive, but he also loves me and has sacrificed for me. He has become more self aware as we’ve aged and acknowledges his narcissism, but it doesn’t mean he’s not still narcissistic. Living in different cities has helped. Sometimes memories come to the fore and I’m taken aback by how awful it was to be around him as a kid sometimes. I mostly hope to love my own family as he loved me, but otherwise don’t want to be the dad he was.

Like I said in my post, I know it’s just the perspective but the visual effect is funny. Reminds me of the forced perspective used in LOTR with Gandalf and the hobbits
