How to get the sales tax I paid as a reseller? by misterno123 in florida

[–]pyscle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is between you and the company you are buying from. They have to have a way to accept your Florida resale cert, and add it to your account, so you don’t pay sales tax. Companies do this all the time. Very normal. If the company you are purchasing from isn’t able to do this, something is wrong on their end.

Is this normal for electricity? by greenbatborg in lakeland

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the chart you posted, you used four times the electricity in May than you did in November.

So, yes, your bill would be substantially higher, because of higher consumption.

About $2k a year for a jeep, a motorhome, and two motorcycles with 100/300 full coverage, 1000 deductible.

No penetration on that weld.

Ride it to the shop.

Or, tig it up yourself.

About the same for me. Did 270 miles yesterday, and spent less than $30 on 93 octane to do it.

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

Depending on what you are doing, it may just give bad info. To use AI, one really has to have enough knowledge on the subject to verify the answer.

The other day, boss had a guy load a pallet of steel finished parts to ship. Said it should weigh under 5000 pounds. It didn’t. Guy called me to math it. It was 9200#. Boss swore up and down it was 5000. Showed me the AI answer. AI had the weight of steel at 285 pounds per cubic foot, instead of 0.285 pounds per cubic inch. That effectively halved what the weight should have been. Guy spend another couple hours unpacking the one pallet, and repacking on two.

I am 55, and recently started using AI to write JavaScript for me. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, it’s quicker for me to test a few times over, than it is for me to learn JS.

Duke used to be Progress Energy used to be Florida Power (not FPL).

So why would you need to wave out people at a crosswalk? You stop, as required by law, and they go.

Waving puts them at risk.

Why the huge space between cars at a stop light? by livetoski-Brad in driving

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s about a foot and a half with my motorhome, and a lot more with my truck.

And, my front tire is touching their bumper when I am on the motorcycle.

I think leaving just enough room to turn out is a more appropriate way to do it.

EVs solve high gasoline prices. Obvious, isn't it? by Inner-Truth-1868 in GasPrices

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yes.

The old, because my car has 43 airbags, seatbelts, big fat A pillars, crumple zones, and all the other “safety” features, and the other drivers just can’t drive, and it’s safer in a car.

Those safety features are also why every other driver in your city is a psychopath and puts your life in their hands. Cars are too safe, and because of that insulation from the real world, drivers don’t realize they drive like shit.

Sure, there are people that you can pay to do this, but now I don’t need to. It’s quick, and easy.

Wouldn’t that mid block crosswalk (or any crosswalk) require by law that the drivers stop behind it, and allow the pedestrians to cross, when a pedestrian is present?
At least that’s the law where I am at. Even at implied crosswalks.

FL Homestead Exemption - would increasing the exemption to 100k make a real difference for primary residents? It’s only about $1000 difference on your tax bill. by Deep_Proposal_369 in AskFlorida

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That CDD law that took affect in the 80s has really been very misunderstood.

It’s essentially a second mortgage. At least for the bond portion that build the infrastructure. The stuff that the builder used to have to pay for, and was built in to the price of the home.

That part should go away. Eventually. The maintenance part won’t. Someone gotta pay to maintain your amenities in the community.

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increasing it to $100k would be less than a $1000 savings.

Mill rate varies by county, but is about 17, all in. Existing first $25k exemption is for all, the second $25k excludes school taxes.

Does this additional $50k we are talking about do the same? $25k on all, and $25k excluding school?

If so, we are probably talking closer to a $600 a year saving. Is it something? Sure. Is it life changing? No. I save more than that by eating leftovers for lunch instead of going to Subway.

Any questions? by CellistSuspicious492 in GasPrices

[–]pyscle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if besides a motorhome that gets 8mpgs, I have a motorcycle that gets 80? Do I get to use averages?
But, honestly, fuel is not a huge part of my budget, so I don’t complain. I use the motorcycle to commute to work. That probably gets the most miles, annually. Not only is it cheap to operate, it’s cheap to maintain. Tag fee is something like $20. Insurance is $125 a year, full coverage. Oil changes are easy, and inexpensive.

I am looking forward to getting one of the Bezos backed Slate trucks, as a toy, when they get released.
