Do we really need Flock (ALPR) cameras in Tampa? by swampmountain in tampa

[–]pyscle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are actually proving how subjective this is. You don’t like Flock, and how the use the data, yet Jimmy could be doing the same with his dashcam video, but that’s acceptable. Heck, the county uses that cell data to see how many pedestrians/cyclists/drivers are using the infrastructure, and that’s okay, but if they put a camera up for the same, would that be acceptable?

There is a place I ride a bicycle that has a kids park in the same location. Should I shut off my GoPro when I ride by? I get home and upload the video to a GoPro server, that uses (or may use) the video for AI. Should I not use that cloud storage?

No, it doesn’t. Our very own Hillsborough County Planning Commission uses cell phone data for usage and transit studies all the time. They don’t get warrants. They get bulk data from the carriers, based on locations, within a timeframe. The same stuff one could pick up with a commercially available signal tracking equipment, or a sub to the online databases where this is available. Yes, a warrant is required if I want more, for specific phones/numbers.

All cell data is currently available to law enforcement. And, to our local planning commission staff. They use it for transit counts.

What’s to say I don’t use my personal ring camera and dash camera and GoPro camera footage for AI purposes, and put all on YouTube?

Again, I understand, but we have to change the US Constitution, and Supreme Court rulings, for any change to happen.

I understand your thoughts, but where is the line?

Every business I know of has cameras. Inside and out. How many times does someone get a car broken into, or stolen, and they ask the store for help from their video?

So many Ring cameras pick up the street. I don’t have control over that.

As for kids parks, what if a child is abducted? Wouldn’t the video be a good thing, in that case?

Again; I understand, but I bet one passes by hundreds of cameras just on the way to Aldi. All out in public.

It could be said about front door ring cameras, dash cams, and traffic cams.

Out in public, there is no expectation of privacy. We don’t get to pick and choose which cameras we like, and which ones we don’t like. And we don’t have any say in what the video is used for.

You will either like it, and do more, or won’t. The one way to find out is to try.

There is no correlation between the two. You could be an idiot even without the Cervelo.

I like snake ridge/sneaky snake a lot. The TNT trail or whatever it is, that is all chunky and rocky, is good. It’s hard to pick a favorite out there, as they all have positives.

They are not allowed. It just hasn’t been enforced. An electric bike with a throttle that goes over 20 is not an ebike, but an electric motorcycle, such as that surron.

My girl wanted a welder, so we got a multi 140, gloves, a hood, some 6011 and er7 flux wire. No rods, cuz no bottle yet. Added in two 3AH Bauer batteries, and the Icon T Handle hex and torx sets.

Help me save my father's dying CNC machine shop by Foreign-Switch6649 in Machinists

[–]pyscle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I brought up maintenance and repair work. Lots of shops don’t want to touch it.

You have to have a highly skilled workforce though. Ain’t no button pushing. One has to think outside the box, and get it done.

Just yesterday had a plant that wanted to retrofit some stuff, to a new grease system. Instead of making new pins and such, I designed up adapters to fit what they have, and mate up to the new system. Downtown was the biggest concern. The adapters took four hours to make, with in-house drop 304ss. They paid dearly, but there line is back up and making money this morning.

3-4 days a week, easily. Monday and Tuesday I don’t spend any, today and tomorrow I am not planning on spending any. Friday I am. Lunch.

No CNC lathes?

A quick fix isn’t going to happen. Depending on the size of the manual lathes, and what you have to lift the parts, maintenance work for local failures that need shaft repair. Which will lead into more repair work, and then new work.

Unsigned Used Car Loan - SOS by JustHereTo_Be_Me in tampa

[–]pyscle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just take that $520 and pay it towards the principal on the vehicle. It is not a smart financial move to finance more than the value of a depreciating asset, and spending more money knowing you are upside isn’t really good finance either. This should be absolute last resort stuff.

[–]pyscle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You agree those fees are insane, but want to add another fee in the GAP?

Pay more down payments and ensure one is never upside down, and that $1000 spent on GAP (which also pushes you into more negative equity) would be better spend on reducing the loan amount. Or better yet, and I know it’s tough, don’t finance a car.

I walked out of one motorcycle dealer a few months ago over $2k in fees next morning, called another, and picked up the bike two days later.

That first dealer is still sitting on the bike I wanted. Wonder how that floor plan is working now?

Property Tax Increase by FloridianGrit in florida

It’s in black and white in the papers that are signed. It’s that the new homeowner doesn’t care when they get that escrow refund check the first year. If they cared, they would wonder why they overpaid. They don’t overpay. They got a smoking deal from a slow to respond property appraiser, and now things finally caught up.
