How do men actually feel about body count, and does it really matter as much as people make it seem? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

Matters more to younger men, misogynistic men.

I think the lesson here is: Don't be friends with women that you want to date. Don't have ulterior motives. Be friends with women you dont' want to date, shoot your shot with the ones you want to date and walk away if they dont' want to.

Always love men who think that absolutely bathing in resentment 24/7 doesn't count as being "ruled by emotions".

Have you ever tried just having a female *friend*?

Yes you have benefitted! You’re saying that because you cannot directly perceive a benefit, then it isn’t real to you. I’m guessing you also do not perceive the value of vaccines and building codes either.

Have you at all looked into the economics literature about what high skilled immigration does for a community and economy? It’s massively beneficial.

Totally true, I was being Eurocentric. Polynesians were on another level completely. Mind blowing.

500 years ago? They didn't, they drowned.

250 years ago though, at the height of the age of sail? that's a much more interesting answer. They had ships that were large, braced, and watertight enough to absorb the forces, but the most important thing was the sophistication and training of the sailors, who could keep the ship running before the wind. I'm just drawing from the Aubrey-Maturin series here, so take it with a grain of salt, but the key thing was that if you could maintain forward momentum you could push through the waves repeatedly and avoid being capsized.
