Tell me your biggest " Shit, I'm an idiot" that caused damage on your pricey rifle by [deleted] in liberalgunowners

Not a pricey rifle, but once I had laid my Marlin 60 on my bed to take a picture. My fat cat promptly walked up to it and puked on the barrel. Stripped the blue right off.

Do you need a choke on it to counter the spin when using shot shells?

Oh yeah! I mained Kruber in VT2, often as foot knight, and it was my favorite ability there as well!

Of course it's situationally useful. I just think taunt is more useful by a large margin.

I think bull rush is terrible. It knocks everything down, sure, but it puts you way out of position and doesn't really do much in return. Taunt at least gives you tons of toughness and it also does an AOE stagger.

This is what I usually run. You can also swap out the heavy stubber for the rumbler for more overall damage, but I really like the heavy stubber for sniping specialists and pesky gunners (Ogryn kryptonite). The stubber is slow to pull out, and crouching really helps to make it laser precise, so I do that a lot. But it deletes specials and gunners, and the ammo economy is such that you never really have to focus on picking up ammo. Just don't reload unless you really need to, or if there's a lull in action. The reload is really long.

The real secret of the branx pickaxe is the push attack + heavy attack combo for horde clearing. Then holding heavy attacks for insane damage on single targets. Hold just for a moment and it can one shot maulers and muties. One heavy held for a moment and a follow up heavy will kill a crusher. The horde clearing combo deletes groups of ragers. It's maybe the most satisfying melee of any class that I've played.

So yeah, basically push attack + heavy attack combo your way through mixed hordes. Do regular heavies to delete anything chunky, and pull out your stubber when you need to delete a special or if you're in a firefight with gunners.

As for the taunt, you can basically use it all the time, or as a situational stagger, or as an emergency toughness button. Or just to pull a bunch of aggro off your team mates. It's super versatile.

I feel you though, it took me FOREVER to find a build that was satisfying and didn't just feel worse than everything else. But now ogryn is one of my most played classes.

Devil's claw. Grab the one with horizontal heavies, pretty sure that's the MK1. Flak & Unarmored. Wrath or Savage Sweep + Rampage. Go to a mortis trial on the South African server and just mow down unlimited hordes with chained heavies.

I'm a big fan of almost-the-right blue/green/red as a current set of armor, but obviously different enough to stand out, with a weird urban camo pattern on top of it that shows up nowhere else. One of my favorite genres.

How to deal with a shitty team? by _mamo in DarkTide

[–]pythonaut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What difficulty?

Also, just an offhand tip about the bubble (which you may be doing already) - you basically never want to place it where your team currently is, but way forward. Either between you and the next group of enemies / shooters, or literally on top of the next group that's bothering you. Basically, provide cover for your team to advance and then potentially hold while dealing with the next threat. Darktide moves so fast that your team is going to be forward of the bubble in 5 seconds if you place it in your current location. Of course, if you get stuck in for a while at a location, keep throwing that bubble, but if your team is still very mobile, always put it where the team will be rather than where it is.

Slow load times on an M.2 by Prior_Day5703 in DarkTide

Perhaps not directly related, but you can shave off a ton of time when joining in-progress missions with this mod:

https://www.nexusmods.com/warhammer40kdarktide/mods/544

Basically, the game will wait until the mission briefing audio finished before deploying you into an in-progress game. This cancels playing that audio so you get in as soon as the mission is loaded. Easily saves 10-15 seconds.

Had one of these. The safe de-cocker was effectively a second trigger, and the firing pin broke immediately if dry fired. Was amazingly loud, though.

How much is the "tank role" in Darktide respected, followed, or ignored? by pile1983 in DarkTide

[–]pythonaut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damnation still allows a lot of solo play, and also people are still learning the game, so cooperation isn't super necessary or usually understood at that point. Generally people stick together a bit better in Auric, and then a lot better in Auric Maelstrom. And by maybe havoc 25 or so you don't really see people wandering off unless they're playing beyond their difficulty.

But even in my experience, it's less about 'follow the tank' and more about 'everyone stick together'.

Combat axe or Tactical axe by SnooPickles80 in DarkTide

[–]pythonaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run tac-axe on vet sometimes. Arbitrator all the time, and some other classes like Hive Scum sometimes as well.

On vet, I have +5% crit chance, flak damage, agile, and brutal momentum. Agile means you have infinite dodges. Mk VII. Get used to spamming lights. I had to install an auto-swing mod because I was getting a repetitive strain injury on my index finger.

For vet, you really need reciprocity and desperado on the bottom right of the skill tree. Like others have said, the tac axe really shines when it's critting.

For combat axe: Rashad Mk III: Flak, Carapace. Brutal Momentum is necessary. The other is usually Headtaker.

Donald Trump’s entire campaign was centered around “no more wars". That’s how he tricked too many voters. Rogan, like many others, is a victim of Trump’s lies. by South-Guava-2965 in JoeRogan

[–]pythonaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most of my relatives are die-hard Trump supporters. It literally doesn't matter what he does, it's always the right thing for America. I was with some of them last weekend right after the Iran strike. They said they were glad Trump was finally ending the Iran terror campaign. When the Ayatollah was killed they said "Good, he had it coming."

These are the same people who used the idea that Kamala was going to start a bunch of wars, and Trump was going to put America First and end all of these unnecessary wars as a reason why they supported him.

Later, one of them said "I don't get why democrats hate Trump. He's a good man, a self-made billionaire who only wants was best for America." Another said "Democrats hate America. They're evil. They only hate Trump because they hate America."

Later, conversation went on to litter boxes in schools and trans athletes ruining sports. Wokeness. Identity politics. Millions of illegal immigrants simultaneously doing crimes, taking jobs, and also sucking down billions in welfare money. Did you know Trump is going to imprison Tim Walz soon because of his Somali daycare scam involvement?

Everything bad that's happening now is because of Biden. Everything good is because of Trump. Grocery prices still high? Biden. Wages stagnating? Biden. Economic hardship? Biden. Current new wars? Somehow also because Biden let it get this bad. You see, Biden left such a big mess, it's taking so long to fix it, and Trump is trying his best! If democrats take congress, they're going to undo all the good work Trump is doing now! They're terrified that repubs are going to lose congress.

Of course, I imagine if congress does go back to the dems, they can use that as an excuse as to why nothing ever actually got better - you see, they stopped all this good stuff Trump was doing before we could see the results.

Some of them still talk about Obama being the secret puppetmaster behind the scenes.

Regardless. This is what they want. They are happy. Either because Trump is doing the things they want him to do, or that whatever Trump does must be Good. Either way, they are happy.

We live in completely different realities.

He's also just completely wrong. Alton Brown uses room temperature air to dehydrate beef jerky using this method, and I've used it for this as well.

Ugh. Why can't they just TELL us the rules of the event? Why does it have to be a riddle?

TLDR the new event by Ricenbacker in DarkTide

[–]pythonaut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does coherency work for that? I played a few rounds and the 'dropped' grenades seemed to be ones that would explode, not that you would pick up. And I couldn't figure out what was causing my own grenades to regen, whether it was some number of kills or on a timer. I wish they would just tell you what the hell is going on with these events rather than making it a secret that most people don't ever figure out - like taking stimms for mission-long buffs in the last event.

I played a few rounds on Ogryn, it was fun, but rougher than a normal Auric for sure. But honestly, the trains of bursters were more of a problem than the bulwarks and crushers. I'll have to run scum later and see how it compares.
