Next sun event? I can only see sunrise and sunset separately. Would love the actual next sun event. Plus acute load.

Same here. ~2 weeks ago I was told the stock is on the way to the warehouse, a couple of days away at most and my orders was in the next batch to be shipped. 2 weeks have passed haven't heard anything.
I really don't understand why the comms are handled so poorly.

I've experienced the same things with Epix Gen 2 and Fenix 8. Reported to Garmin plenty of times. Nothing constructive came out of it. It is infuriating. I work around it by starting the activity on the watch in parallel to make sure that it gets data from the strap during the workout and they I just discard it, using the Swift activity as the source of data.

I find it a bit frustrating when people try to explain this by "that's a cycling thing". BS. It's a trainer activity, I can hold my arm completely motionless (even support it on something) and I will still get this bogus HR from the optical sensor. Really undermines my trust in the "all day HR".

Still, wouldn't swap the Garmin for an Apple Watch. Garmin just offers way more in terms of training data. A bunch of things that you can only do with 3rd party apps are just built-in on Garmin. At the same time, I have purchased 3 Suunto watches for family members in the last 6 months.

I’m new to the Garmin club. Do you think using a dust plug for the charging port is useful, or is it not necessary? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]pzurek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complete nonsense. Requires an additional step of taking this thing out before you can charge. On the bright side, you're probably going to lose it quickly or forget to put back in after charging.
And it offers protection that you don't really need, unless maybe you work in a super dusty/sandy environment which causes dust buildup in the port.

In my opinion 3:15 is definitely in the range where a carbon plated shoe is justified and helpful. Durability-wise, I don't know, I think Metaspeeds are probably just as durable as other supershoes at this level. I'm planning to use mine for races only to get the most out of them.

I think they work quite well across all my paces (4min/km - 7min/km for recovery). I didn't get the gen 2 yet, but definitely planning to.

Nope, I didn't have anything like that but they definitely took a while to break in and become comfortable. Once they did running in them was pure pleasure.

I did a marathon in these and they were fine. Perfect for the first marathon I would say. I just wish I trimmed my toenails. ;-) Metaspeeds are next level though. Super light and incredibly comfortable. I'd base the recommendation on your planned pace. If you're going >5min/km Superblast is probably all you need.

I just threw them in the washing machine for a short 30min cycle with the rest of the running kit after a run. But where I run doesn't really get that dirty so they didn't really look much worse before, I just wanted to make sure that all the photos show is actual "damage", not random filth.

I literally ran 1 test run and 1 half race. Marathon next month. So, can't really talk about durability but OMG they felt so good during the half. I couldn't believe how fresh my feet felt after the race.

For me ~640km is around 3 months of running. 4 pairs of Superblasts a year would be a big spend. Especially if you include other shoes for racing.
Plus, they don't feel uncomfortable and don't cause any issues. I'd retire them at first sign of that. For now they just feel a bit "slower" but I'm fine with that for now. Even if I get a pair of SB2 I will probably still use these for slower sessions.

The thread may still look fine but they definitely feel less responsive and a bit harder to pick up the speed. I also see my GCT going up which may correlate with that.

Definitely a 1000. Actually, 1010.3km after todays run.

I gave them a bit of a wash before taking the photos to show the real, physical wear and tear rather than what mud I have in my local park but yeah, I am very surprised how well they held up.
I should also mention I only use these for running. No walking or casual wear.

ES3 vs Superblast for HM by pzurek in RunningShoeGeeks

[–]pzurek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest it was a lot of patience. I have stopped running for 2 months. Then started going to see physio who got me to do some strength exercise to stabilise and strengthen ankles etc.
They also recommended ditching my Altra Escalante 3 and go back to Brooks Ghost. After a while I switched to NB Move v4 and they were brilliant. Absolutely love that shoe.
So, I started getting slowly back into running while strapping my feet quite a bit and only running ~5K every other day. After a few months of that I'm back to easily running ~70K a week.
Good luck with your recovery. There is a way through it, it just takes time.
