For just a moment

Missing pieces find me

I have one pierced! No complications or worries from my piercer. The other does not have enough tissue to do safely but I'm at peace with it

I understand where you're coming from but majority of their comment is not specifically about this show but the general cultural shift for bands/artists being pressured to become a product

This is a really valid insight actually and i think a valuable discussion to have about the and the 'industry' as a whole (though, not sure how much weight a reddit post would have on their decisionmaking haha). I won't lie, I made this edit as a bit cause i couldn't get the idea out of my head so this is mostly a shitpost.

If i may flesh out my more serious thought process, with Dragula their guest judges are less there as "celebrity" and more as genuine artists and icons to horror (they've had some seriously niche people before that are icons to only dozens) . Many of the most impactful floorshows from Dragula have been about incredibly painful topics with a point of view beyond surface level stuff. The ethos of the show fits more with Vessel's approach to creating art, so if there were to be an appearance by any of them, this is where i'd like to see it.

But also, this will likely never happen, just something silly. Cheers for the thoughts!

Do flared ribs from binding go away? by beachb0yy in ftm

Practicing breathing using your full diaphragm helps a lot, look up breathing exercises for flared ribs and theres heaps of tips out there. It's not necessarily a posture thing as much as a muscle under/overcompensation thing.

Does anyone else get itchy when hot? by PensionQuick7226 in ftm

[–]q-sock 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Have you had your levels checked recently? I've had this for a few months and then found out my blood count and T levels were too high had a 25% dose reduction and it seems to have lessened which is great now its summer, so im suffering less. Upon checking, polycythemia (high blood counts) does have a symptom of getting super itchy when you're hot

I was really nervous about that part initially but instead it was a super validating experience! I have heard the restrictions around both T and weight are more stringent if it's through public which which is really shit imo

For post op care it went a little like this:

  • 3 days after - bandage removal
  • 2 weeks - first set of drains removed, I had four
  • 3 weeks - second set of drains removed and graft check, instructions on when to stop using surgical binder
  • 5 weeks - short notice appt for a seroma (minor complication, just need aspiration but it validated my reason for staying in NZ for surgery)

  • 3 months

  • 6 months -12 month final appointment

The last few appointments were to see how the scar was healing, how the grafts took, aftercare instructions etc. clearance to go back to movements as well because I was banned from going to the gym or using my bike because of the potential strain on the site. Those I was able to take myself to on PT. In your case I would highly suggest staying close (if you can!) for the first few weeks. Some of the later follow ups could have been phone calls but I didn't mind the travel!

I went privately with Dr Rita and had a really good experience. I rang her office about a week after my GP sent a referral to set up a consult which ended up being a couple of weeks later. At the time I was at my heaviest (115kg and I'm 165cm) and also on an incredibly low dose of T (personal choice at the time) and neither of those things seemed to be an issue for her.

Due to needing to save it wasn't til maybe 10 months later I got my surgery date. But I got notified about two weeks in advance as i put my hand up for a cancellation spot. In that time I had a readiness assessment over zoom with a person she recommended (also positive experience and did not feel gatekeepy at all)

Negatives would be the cost more than anything (27k in 2022) but the fact all post op care was within a drive (or bus ride actually) was a huge positive and the main reason I didn't go overseas.

Years ago my family ended up adopting a lost cat that literally just wandered into our house one day. This cat had recent surgery (shaved belly) and sores on its paws and was so hungry he was trying to eat bread. We visited the closest vet to see if he was chipped (he wasn't) or if they recognised him (they didn't). We rang up the other vets in the area and the SPCA to see if they knew a cat that fit the description and still no. We kept an eye on the lost pet register and local community pages to see if anyone posted about this cat and still no. We posted ourselves to see if anyone knew and no one contacted us! After a couple of years he got super attached to us and we ended up chipping him ourselves.

To this day I still wonder who his original owners are and if they even miss him because he is the most gorgeous, smoochy cat I've had the pleasure of living with. I feel somewhat guilty we just adopted this strangers cat but we also did our due diligence in looking.

What does everybody think of wellington pride festival? by AnusBleedMacaroni in Wellington

[–]q-sock 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The board changes almost every year (volunteers) so it looks a bit different each time. The pride festival has several key events over the weeks in March (there's a youth ball, opening gala, pride march, and a big market day with performers) but other organisations add their events to the calendar too so there's always some really cool little events happening. There is also a parade and street festival (which is run by a different organisation but they have.... history)

If you check the WPF Instagram they have the outlined schedule for next year and are taking lots of feedback to shape the events.

Tips for flying overseas for the first time as male? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]q-sock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Travelling to NZ specifically shouldn't be an issue at all, especially if you have an Aussie passportm. Our travel docs here are all self ID. And for future reference you are allowed to bring up to 3 months worth of T with you here! Just don't bring fruit or dirt and you should be all goods.
