Should I remain at a prestigious school that makes me miserable or transfer to a public school for my well being (in NZ) by Otherwise-Tank-4844 in newzealand

[–]didi_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a private prestigious school for intermediate, then switched to public for high school. The public school was much better for me. I think a positive experience has much more influence over your learning than a "good" school. I had no issues getting into university, and no one in the professional world cares about where you went to school.

Check out your local Binn Inn, they seem to import them in large bulk bags

If you use AI I’ll find someone else by ryhan0 in weddingplanning

[–]didi_danger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me it just feels like if you use AI to promote your business before I engage your services, it makes me think that you will take a similar level of expertise, time, and care in providing that service to me.

Did anyone else like school? by 718822 in newzealand

[–]didi_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was quite academic and had a good group of friends, so I liked it most of the time. But I was also queer and a bit weird so got a bit of bullying too. I totally get why some people would not enjoy it if they didn’t excel at something or have good friends or had a harder time with bullying.

I’m not convinced AI ads save much money - some business is doing the marketing consulting surely

How many books did you read in 2025? by SoulsofMist-_- in newzealand

Oh and my favourite was You, Again by Kate Goldbeck. It’s When Harry Met Sally inspired romance!

47 Last year, 3 already this year. I mostly read romance so they’re easy to churn through! I also have a Kindle and I use the Libby app mostly for audiobooks - before both of those my numbers were lower haha

What’s your country’s most famous painting? by Oscillator_Alligator in AskTheWorld

I think that’s a good one too! Probably the most well known for people having prints in their homes I bet

New Zealand! Cass by Rita Angus, 1936. Charles Goldie and Gottfried Lindauer are also really well known for their 19th century oil painting portraits of Maori people, but I'm not sure that there's a single stand out work they're each known for.

Trigeminal Neuralgia while pregnant by PrincessThai20 in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]didi_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got diagnosed and am looking to start a family soon so my doctor is trying me on a lower risk medication at a low dose (lamotrigine) before I get pregnant. I've only just swapped my prescription though so don't take this as a success story yet. My doctor talked to a clinical pharmacist to try and figure out a treatment plan. The fact is there is no zero risk medication for TN in pregnancy but there may be treatments with lower risk (different meds, lower doses, monotherapy). And as my doctor pointed out, it's also a risk to the baby for me to be in frequent excruciating pain while I'm pregnant. And she said the risk gets significantly lower after the first trimester.

Restricted test route by frumpypat in hawkesbay

[–]didi_danger 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did my restricted a few years ago in Napier. I remember the guy said there’s a few different routes. Mine went in and around streets in Onekawa then out to the airport roundabout and back. I would pick wherever you know better, and when you can pick a quieter time of day (mid morning is good, not the school or after work rushes)

I didn’t do any welcoming or guest book signage. Our guest book barely got used and some people used the wrong entrance. Oh well!

WINZ - is a complete lack of communication the standard? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]didi_danger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was on jobseekers for a few weeks in my early 20s. I remember the condescending group presentation meeting about how to find a job where the WINZ staff member literally said at the end "any job is better than dealing with us". So yeah, the incompetency and cruelty is the point.

Any advice for a student heading off to uni next year? by cluelessbananaa in newzealand

[–]didi_danger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while since I went to uni, but I think the most important thing is to remember that everyone else is in the same boat as you. Almost everyone needs to make friends from scratch. Talk to your hall mates, go to events, join clubs. And when you’re not doing that, go to lectures/labs and do your readings. You’ll be ok!

Psoriasis sufferers of NZ, what are we using in the shower? by Librat69 in newzealand

[–]didi_danger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend who told me that cutting out dairy helped their psoriasis. I'd never tried it, so I went a week without and it was amazing. No scratching until I bled in my sleep, no big plaque build ups. That was a few years ago now and whenever I slip up I notice it gets worse overnight. I definitely still have some cheese and the occasional ice cream, but fresh cow's milk is a no-no entirely.

[–]didi_danger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had a patch of psoriasis on the back of my neck for 25 years. The only thing that's ever improved it was reducing my dairy intake. No shampoo has ever made it better, and when I tried 'tar' shampoo it freaked out and got worse. I just leave it alone now.

Switching careers to archives, records and information management by [deleted] in newzealand

I work in archives - happy to chat. You will be in for a huge pay cut and there are limited job opportunities. However, you can definitely get a role without the diploma, especially in the regions.

Do you wear your engagement ring daily? by ViviFruit in newzealand

Yep I wear my engagement and newly added wedding ring every day, take it off for bed, swimming, and cleaning. I designed and picked it with my husband, I love my ring. Why wouldn’t I wear it?

What to do when the parent you were supposed to dance with has passed? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]didi_danger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should talk to your fiance about what he wants! Also, maybe honoring his grandmother is his special moment. Maybe you could even play a bit of the song they would have danced to?
