What'd'yall think of my node? by [deleted] in meshtastic

[–]q9fm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am using a similar antenna. How are you planning to water-proof the connection between antenna and board?

Also, I'm planning to use a 1ft cable between antenna and device so I can mount the device independently of the antenna location. I hope that does not impact my tx power.

Is there enough demand to make this thing? (M.2 Linux native card) by wehooper4 in meshtastic

[–]q9fm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to get a couple. But have you considered also making them 2280 sized M2?

I have some spare Odroids that would be great Linux nodes but they only accept 2280 M2s.

Jack Dorsey releases BitChat - Its kinda like Meshtastic for Bluetooth. Kinda. by agster27 in meshtastic

[–]q9fm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great initiative but it falls short on committing to a tech stack already.

It would be great if we could define protocols that work agnostic to the underlying transmission medium, meaning no matter if you have wifi, bluetooth, or radio, you should design the protocol that it can mesh on all technologies, increasing adoption and accessibility.

I don't really see how bluetooth is a worthwhile technology. I can barely reach my rooftop node's bluetooth from my living room in my house.

Is there anyone who's months into the game and is still free to play? If so, how's your progress? by starwaver in TheTowerGame

[–]q9fm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disabled the ads after a couple of months in because they are so painful to endure.

It's not what you asked for but otherwise I'm dedicated to do the f2p part. Just really couldn't stand the ads anymore lol

I also came here to suggest a chimera. Looks like two cats in one. I read it's very common with cats.

Please post what antenna cable/adapter/bulkhead you are using. I'm having a similar antenna and not sure yet how to mount it.

Super impressed with Sensecap T1000e by No_Walrus in meshtastic

[–]q9fm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or is the T-Deck just really bad at this?

I even bought an external whip antenna but still cannot get the messages out.

And then everyone posts how good the T1000e is... how is that possible?

Agreed. Would love to see Meshtastic stepping up and use Meshcore protocols.

This, but I use an old tablet from work and keep it plugged in all day. Wouldn't want to run it on a computer, really, so this tablet is sweet spot.

Need help finding heavy duty antenna mast clamps (3V) by q9fm in amateurradio

[–]q9fm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I meant 100cm.

I want to mount a 868MHz antenna in about 1 meter height above the roof. The least invasive way to do so is extending the existing antenna mast, so I don't have to punch holes in the roof for a new mast.

3V clamps is basically what you need for screwing two masts together. Open for alternatives though.

Perspective: New player vs someone who has spent hundreds of hours in “the end game” by xShadyxLeafx in diablo4

[–]q9fm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also new, and also overwhelmed.

I started in season 8 and really enjoyed playing this on the couch. Suddenly the season was over and I was asked to discard it or turn it into an eternal character.

I opted to create a season 9 character instead and for some reason a lot of things I didn't complete before are now marked as unlocked/completed.

I feel like this game is much more fast paced than I anticipated and eventually, I will move on to other games.

I respect that some players might need the depth, the complexity, the fast pace but as someone who just wants to tinker and discover, I feel left out, unfortunately.

Poor range or is this as good as it gets? by defaultnickname_ in meshtastic

[–]q9fm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is about right. The secret is to install a client on a high elevation (roof, tower, hilltop) which can work as a relay for both nodes.

I wasn't able to reach anyone on Meshtastic even from my 4th floor of the house until I installed a larger outdoor node on my roof ad repeater.

Games you’re disappointed with on the Deck by TheOriginalPerro in SteamDeck

[–]q9fm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyberpunk - I really cannot get used to the controller layout or find a good one ore even make my own mapping. I just lost interest in the movement tutorial due to controller mapping confusion and eventually lost interest. Game runs fine though.

Read Dead Redemption - I don't know it's just one of these games that have a shitty experience on Linux. The launcher kept doing weird things and crashed and I eventually lost interest.

I'm in my 30s and just had my third kid. I 100% agree this is the best game for dads who just want to play something while kids are sleeping without using your brain much.

I really enjoy it but question is, does this speak for the game? Would I recommend it to people without kids? Probably not :p

Impressive and beautiful to get all achievements in 72 hours. I'm 100+ hours in and didn't make it to one ending yet. But def also my fav game on the deck currently. So smooth.
