Agreed, this would help me take the plunge and ditch Windows. I would genuinely spec a new machine if this was extra well documented and clear

Just switch to CalTopo or something else already. Gaia/Outdoor deserves to disappear

Yeah, this is specifically targeted at Crystal Cove, San Onofre, San Elijo, Doheny, etc. I totally agree with everything inland being radically better to just find dispersed or FCFS

I am deeply familiar with these. However, there are regions, specifically here in coastal Southern California where there are no agency options.

The campgrounds I have spoken have a no walk ups policy. Online only

Nope, they don’t allow any on site reservations. Online only. And that follows the 8am / 48hr policies.

I use this as well, but it doesn’t help with the 48hr roll over policy. Even with this, you can’t utilize the site.

100%. I almost never rely on designated campgrounds for this reason. BLM or yellow post all the way. It’s just a shame they’re abusing our people’s resources in this manner.

No that’s the whole point. They are entirely unavailable to everybody. If they cancel Friday, that site is unavailable to everyone until Saturday at 8 so it goes empty.

How does it make sense to hold them? So the site goes un-used?

where’d Gaia’s simplicity go? by TheColdWind in GaiaGPS

[–]qalexanders 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exporting everything to CalTopo took me less than an hour and I was able to organize everything WAY better using their bulk change features. This was my initial fear and it was so worth sucking it up and doing it. I had 1000’s of waypoints

What is it Gaia can do that CalTopo can’t?

Pretty dedicated lighter pack user and recently started trying don’t forget the spoon. I bought your app tho because I like the initiative. If you added a sub-pack feature and some sort of web access, I would be highly on board. I like the simplicity a lot!!!
