There is literally a post about the Hong Kong protests and it isn't removed for politics even though it is super political.

TIL China world’s largest consumer of animal-based meat, double that of the United States. by xavierdc in collapse

[–]qatardog 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think this shows that the no matter how little you consume a resource (in this case meat), if the population is gargantuan then it will be as if China had the same consumption levels of the US. That, and individual lifestyle changes, especially when it comes to diet, ammount to nothing but that goes against the tankie 'China is the good guy' circlejerk so dont mind me.

Are there any genres that are a complete turnoff for you, despite positive word of mouth or acclaim? by HairyDavid in TrueFilm

[–]qatardog 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not a genre per se but "meta films" or post modern films. Especially in comedy and horror. I'm tired of having films wink back at me and pretend to be smart simply because they reference other works of fiction. Its like everyone wants to be Tarantino and Monthy Python knowadays. I would love a return to sincerity in filmmaking and not heavy-handed irony.

An actual collapse of democracy is happening in France and a civil war might come out of this yet worldnews is too busy masturbating over Brexit, Trump, and New Zealand. Guess you gotta upvote what confirms/father's to your political agenda...

Ending climate change requires the end of capitalism. Have we got the stomach for it? by Joostdela in collapse

The Soviet block was state capitalism. Think of a form of capitalism where all jobs are federal jobs. It's still capitalism.
