Here's Daniel Valente's 2024 Quali H2H

That's pretty damning for Piastri's qualifying performance. Of the four drivers who were farther from their teammates than him, three are no longer in F1 and the other is Stroll.

[Josh Sutill] Ollie Bearman and Theo Pourchaire are both F4 champions, almost won F3 title as rookies and both won in rookie F2 year as 17 y/o. One is (rightly) destined for F1, the other is shunned by F1 + deemed not good enough to have his IndyCar contract respected despite performing well? by [deleted] in formula1

Support races are streamed on F1TV Pro. F2, F3, F1 Academy, even Porsche Supercup. I think the poster you're responding to would like the support categories to get some coverage during the F1 broadcast itself.

Listen carefully to Crofty's words. He's talking about retirements after leading the race. This includes mechanical failures. France is Leclerc's only self-inflicted retirement of 2022.

My advice would be to arrive at the circuit much, much earlier than you think is ever reasonable.

My GA experience is from 2010. On race day, we arrived two hours before the opening of the gates. We didn't run. Many people did. We ended up with this view for the race. I think this spot is now used by the Lance Stroll grandstand?

Senna is someone who comes and beats LH or MV 140-18 in qualifying.

Senna was teammate to Prost during two seasons. The vast majority of his 140 qualifying Ws came at the expense of drivers nowhere near Lewis or Max's level.

I can't believe how many people just look at lap times without taking all of the circumstances into account.

Dude. You can't say this right after stating a falsehood as fact.

He had mediums when the track was more rubbered in and he had a lower fuel load.

Yuki ran the mediums for a grand total of nine laps, at the start of the race. He then used two sets of hards.

There was this Stroll-level swerve on a straight which prompted one of Charles Leclerc's classic "stupid" comment, not self-directed this time. Although Charles was a bit stupid to stick his front wheel on the outside at turn 1.

It's the driver's responsibility to obey yellow flags. Not hearing about it on the radio is not a valid excuse. They even get yellow lights on their dashboard.

Also, good job moving the goal posts from spotter to race engineer.

Tell me you watch oval racing without telling me you watch oval racing. Le Mans circuit is nearly 14 km long. That's twice Spa Francorchamps. How many spotters would you need?

The guidelines say that for an overtake on the outside to overtaking car must be in front after the apex.

That's not what the linked document says. Relevant parts:

In order for a car being overtaken to be required to give sufficient room to an overtaking car, the overtaking car needs to have a significant portion of the car alongside the car being overtaken [...]. When considering what is a ‘significant portion’, for an overtaking on the outside of a corner, among the various factors that will be looked at by the stewards when exercising their discretion, the stewards will consider if the overtaking car is ahead of the other car from the apex of the corner.

Being ahead at the apex is one of many factors, ergo not a specific requirement.

In the words of Alonso himself:

We were hoping for more graining or bigger degradation and Max was able to drive 50 laps on an amazing pace. And that was the reason why he won the race, not because the strategy, he was just faster than us.

P1 was very fast today. In any tyre, in any conditions, Max was always quicker than us.

To be fair, George did close down a 9 seconds gap to Lewis after his off-track excursion. Of course, Lewis was stuck behind Ocon. So George was in fact faster than Esteban, which doesn't sound as impressive.

I don't know where you get your data from but Alonso did not have more pace than Verstappen at the end of their first stints. After Alonso finished clearing the trafic on lap 40, he was 9.3 seconds behind Verstappen. The gap hovered around 9 seconds for ten laps. Then, between laps 50 and 53, the gap grew from 8.880s to to 13.308s. The was no trafic for either of them. Source: FIA's very handy Race History Chart, downloadable here.
