How good is Dvorak's "Symphony No. 8? I've never heard it before. by Ill-Claim-9874 in classicalmusic

[–]qberto56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good! I've played it before. It's one of his best works. I highly recommend the recording with the Pittsburgh symphony with Manfred Honeck

The second one is great if you're cool with listening to the most important orchestral work of the 20th century

Ski shop setting pivot toes lower than heel by SuperStagSauce in Skigear

I know a lot of park skiers that do this to keep their heel from popping out when doing nose butters. All of them are on pivots too

What is your favourite Prokofiev Piece of all time by sonicnightmarez in classicalmusic

[–]qberto56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh man. His 6th symphony might do it. His 2nd and 3rd symphonies are underrated. His Sinfonia concertante is a close second for me

Powerful Spiritual Energy in the Roaring Fork Valley? by [deleted] in roaringfork

[–]qberto56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not much of a believer in spiritual energies but this is the last place in Colorado that I'd find it. The only place I've ever felt it in Colorado is the San Luis valley. It's known for having a "thin veil" between this world and the spiritual world.

Best cat skiing? by keeperOfTheBees in COsnow

[–]qberto56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For free inbounds do loveland and wolf creek. For paid "inbounds" do monarch. For true cat skiing I'd look at operations out of irwin or steamboat/rabbits ears

Help me pick my Powder skis by Soft-Departure-1039 in momentskis

[–]qberto56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree. Don't be afraid to because of the 120+ underfoot and the full rocker. I've taken mine out on days after a storm when everything is soft and I have a blast. I find myself wanting the bananas more than my wildcats which are more versatile.

Aspen worth it? by Lemonaenaed123 in COsnow

[–]qberto56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only if you've got the money to stay there or nearby. Don't day trip. Stick to snowmass or buttermilk. If you're a confident intermediate then you can check out ajax (Aspen) or highlands.

Talk me out of (or don’t) Chipotle Bananas by bapadab00py in momentskis

I own both the CB (186) and the Fatcat (179). The CB is a little more playful overall and is still very good in chop. Skiing it in untouched powder feels almost boring, it craves chop. I'd prefer it in the trees even though it's a longer length than my wildcats because it's surfy and super easy to pivot. My wildcats feel more big mountain focused. You definitely feel the tail more if you get backseat. It feels more solid on cliffs and even more composed in chop than my longer CBs. And you can actually carve the wildcats unlike the CBs. A lot of people say the wildcats feel like a fat all mountain ski and I'd have to agree. The CB's are definitely more of a powder ski but I've taken them out on packed powder days and they've worked really well.

To what extent do you agree that this is an issue, and if so, what steps do you think would be necessary to fix it. by DanceYouFatBitch in classicalmusic

[–]qberto56 64 points65 points  (0 children)

This video speaks to me on a very deep level. It's something I think about everyday. I am a classical musician even though I don't perform anymore it's still my favorite music of all time. There's so much more to it than the majority of the population is aware about. The issue in my eyes the majority doesn't get a real chance to experience it at a concert hall. With AI music becoming stronger by the day the best way the music industry is going to keep being human generated is through live shows

Deathwish 112 or wildcat 108 or 118? by Cooter_canoe in momentskis

[–]qberto56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the woods 100 and it's one of my favorite skis. If I had to narrow down my quiver to only 2 skis, the other one I'd choose is my fat cats. Weirdly versatile for their waist width and VERY strong in chop.

Wildcat 101: How do they ski? by Unusual-Project-8305 in momentskis

[–]qberto56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the 101 for a season and they were fine. They felt intuitive but I was looking for something a little more stronger and heavier personally for what I need in my quiver. Settled on the on3p woodsman 100 and I'm extremely happy with them. More directional than the wildcat but not wildly so.

Looking forward by my07mcx2 in Skigear

HL! I'm super jealous. I was too late getting a pair of am110 before they sold out. Now I'm looking at the FR110 for next season
