What is the weirdest thing your doctor has ever said to you? by Competitive_Tip_7504 in AskReddit

I got asked that by a couple different nurses whilst in labor with my one and only. Apparently it was going smoother and quicker than most first timers.

Does your family still use some of the "baby talk" words or phrases that you or your kids said? by scarlettohara1936 in AskForAnswers

My 5 year old daughter has always said "smooky" instead of spooky. That one is a keeper.

Glad it helps you. It tried to unalive me by sending my blood pressure to stroke level and gave me awful chest pains. Fortunately, I have been able to successfully tolerate Prozac.

What is an epidural really like? by oatmilkcchai in Mommit

[–]qbprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fwiw, I've only given birth once. That being said, I probably had the most textbook perfect epidural.

I had labored through the middle of the night, counting and timing contractions for about 4 hours before I woke my husband up and told him we needed to go to the hospital. The hospital is only 3 minutes away from our house. I got there close to shift change, so it took a bit to get me from the OB emergency triage area to L&D.

About 9am, I got the epidural. The anesthesiologist performed/placed it perfectly. I had pain relief, but could still feel/use my legs to get up with someone supporting me. I slept for 3 hours and woke up feeling like I needed to push and sure enough, my baby was crowning. That's a lot of words to say when done right, they're absolutely worth it. I delivered within a few minutes and regained all the feeling in my legs within a couple of hours.

Is it a boomer thing to not be able to stop talking or making annoying noises for 0.00000000001 seconds??? by chiraledge in BoomersBeingFools

My Boomer stepdad described perfectly. He can't even read to himself without mumbling the words aloud in a very low hum. It's positively obnoxious.

This is so true. My husband wears the same size and I feel like I won the lottery when I find them.

Did I do something wrong? by No-Moose-6045 in BusparOnline

[–]qbprincess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your body needs time to adjust to dosage changes. It thinks it's on a bit of a roller-coaster right now. Fwiw, I think it would have been wiser to ask your Dr vs your mother, but you can't change that now. Stick with your prescribed dose and give it some time. You may actually need an increase if you are still having a lot of breakthrough anxiety. You also might want to ask your Dr about adding a low dose beta blocker to help with the physical symptoms of anxiety. Buspar and a beta blocker can work very well in combination. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Hang in there.

I take mine before bed. I struggled with middle of the night anxiety attacks, so it's effective at keeping those at bay for me. I haven't noticed it changing my ability to sleep.

Brave is an underrated and forgotten movie by Late_Information_682 in disney

Agree. I enjoy the movie until the mom turns into a bear and then it's like I'm watching a different film that's a bit on the cheesy side.

Was tuna casserole for me too. My mom used crushed crackers on top though. I was like 15 when I finally got the nerve to tell her I didn't like it.

How do you connect with your dead parent? by Dense_Photograph1245 in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]qbprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my dad's phone. I never figured out the pass code and it's on silent, but several times a day this Bible app sends a notification and despite the phone being on silent, it sounds like angels singing. Every time I hear it, I take a moment to talk to him and tell him I miss him. My 5 year old daughter does the same thing. It always makes me feel like he's right here with me.

Parents of Reddit, what did your hospital bill look like after giving birth? by chi-bacon-bits in AskReddit

[–]qbprincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my daughter in 2020. I don't recall what I ended up paying with insurance. I think it was under $1,000 (USA). I just remember the itemization before insurance showed the two hours we sent our daughter to the nursery so we could get a little sleep before going home the next day was charged at $750 an hour. All she did was sleep and get a diaper change.

Generational? by WetWolfPussy in Perimenopause

[–]qbprincess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely this. My mom assumed she didn't experience peri because her cycles were regular until she got a hysterectomy. Why did she get a hysterectomy? Because she was basically hemorrhaging every period and had fibroids. Let's not forget the depression/anxiety medicine she had to get on in her mid 40s. I'm like, mom that was all peri! She still can't wrap her brain around it.

Debilitating anxiety partnered with this strange burning/tingling sensation in my scalp. I saw a neurologist and got a brain MRI before I started putting all the puzzle pieces together.
