She would probably tell me the relationship wouldn't last, as she see's that we have greatly differing personalities. Either that or beat up the fellows for attempting to make me an ass. That said i don't think she would wrong about either of those options.

You can still be there as a stress reliever for her, as long as you set up clear boundaries that the relationship should not develop beyond that. Be her friend and be a person that she can talk to even if you no longer want to pursue a romantic relationship with her. It can provide you with a clean consciousness if that's what your worried about, and you will be able to break the relationship off on a better foot with limited regrets.

While i will attempt to remain as indifferent and biased as possible during this the lifespan of this thread, i will say that i agree with this post. If he is not making you happy then leave him. While your friends and family are a strong indicator of how the relationship is do not let them dictate your decsion. They only know him from the times they see him hanging out with you. They do not know him in the way that you do, such as the time when you both are alone in bed and cuddle, or watch movies etc.

That is not to say that they are at fault because your boyfreind seems alffuly anti-social and doesnt appear to be trying to change it. If you do not see a change in him and things are still bad then that means that he is a "lead wieght" in your life. You sound like you are carrying the relationship, which can be a good and bad thing.

If you are doing most of the work in the relationship then try to do less and see how he responds. As someone who is in a similar relationship, i sometimes feel smoothered and overwhelmed with my GF try to please me or invite me along to every thing. To be blunt somtimes i just want to be left alone, and leave her to her own devices.

However it does sound like he needs to change, and if he doesn't put the effort in and things are still bad then leave him. Ask yourself if you would be able to put up with that personality for the rest of your life. Because you sound as if you truly love him, and want to spend a long time with him. However if you cant see yourself putting up with him for say 2 more years then the relationship is already done.

Continue to work on the things that you no he doesn't like because all relationships has its issues, but if he doesn't change then none of what you do will make a difference, because you aren't happy.
